About this listen

Would you risk it all the save your family?

Living in New Zealand, Jack Gee thought he was safe. The beautiful, isolated country had always provided a sense of security. When a virus begins to spread across the globe, he is on a hiking trip in the mountains, blissfully unaware. A desperate message from his wife Dee alerts him to the viral threat that turns humans into apex predators with one purpose - to kill.

The country collapses as Jack races to get home, and when he finally does make it out of the mountains he finds his peaceful life has been shattered. Banding with other survivors, they all must quickly learn how to survive in this new world.

In the fight to stay alive, friendship and family will be tested and new alliances formed. But dangerous new enemies emerge in the war for the future of the country, and the world.

I found this story to be a good balance of action and build up. The fight scenes didn't go on and on. I wanted to keep listening.

Good balance

the first few hours of the book are good, the timeline then advanced way to fast within too short a span and then the creatures change to quick and dramatically in nature to often.
had real potential but the need to change it up to quick ruined it for me.

good but then not

Really enjoyed that this was set in NZ. Easy to listen to as the narrator has a great tone. Got to know the characters and enjoyed the strong female character! I recommend for anyone who enjoys a story with great characters, challenges and a bit of gore in there. Were a few moments where I really felt the pain!

Loved the narrator!

disliked all the references to colonization in situations that most certainly don't merit to be compared to situations in book plain wokeness not to mention all the war's from way back. sorry but clearly you've put your own strong ideals.

bad wokeness
