About this listen

From Alix E. Harrow, the Sunday Times bestselling author of Starling House, comes a moving and genre-defying quest.

A legend. A lie. A love story.

A lady-knight whose legend built a nation meets a retiring historian in awe of her fame. He's sent back through time to make sure she plays her part . . . even if it breaks his heart.

Sir Una Everlasting was Dominion’s greatest hero: the orphaned girl who became a knight, who died for queen and country. Her legend lives on in songs and stories, in children’s books and recruiting posters - but her life as it truly happened has been forgotten. Centuries later, Owen Mallory - failed soldier, struggling scholar - falls in love with the tale of Una Everlasting. Her story takes him to war, to the archives, and then into the past itself. Una and Owen are tangled together in time, bound to retell the same story over and over again, no matter what it costs. But that story always ends the same way.

If they want to rewrite Una’s legend, and finally tell a different story, they’ll have to rewrite history itself - and change their lives in the process.

This was everything that people had hyped it up to be and more. Una and Owen, the slow burn 💕 Heartbreakingly beautiful and poetic and also funny! Can’t really ask for more in a standalone. One of my favourites of the year.

I know people are saying its a 'tragic' love story, but to me it was way beyond that. An inescapable time loop and a truly evil villian. it was a nightmare! Like I was truly despairing and felt so hopeless. The book was great, as was the narration, characters etc (hence the 5 stars) but I couldn't sleep once I finished it and almost regret reading it in the first place. I feel like this would be a great read for fans of thrillers (which I am not).

It took me awhile to decide if I liked this book. I kept listening because of all the great reviews I read. They were right. This is a great story, very well written. I really liked that the majority of the book was from the male pov. The male narrator was perfect for the role. I highly recommend this book.

A solid audiobook with great dual narration. It starts slow but gets more emotional as it goes. Worth it for fans of fantasy romance and time-jumping stories.
