Shane is the hardworking defense lawyer for the Devil’s Mayhem Motorcycle Club. It’s a tough job since he’s usually trying to defend the indefensible and sometimes the evidence is just too damning. Nevertheless, he has an excellent track record of winning cases and his legal firm is considering offering him a partnership position. However, they aren’t thrilled with their legal top gun socialising with gang members like Zeke, the Devil’s Mayhem enforcer, so they’d be really unimpressed to find out Shane is in a relationship with him. Zeke has always played the field, often with multiple players at a time, but he’s willing to change his ways for Shane. The two have always felt an attraction but acting on it will jeopardise Shane’s career and possibly his safety. Are they willing to risk it all?

I’m in the strange position of quite liking a book which I know has some major faults. Other than the unconvincing instalove romance, there wasn’t really much of a plot, and the action, the adrenaline, and the ‘dark themes’ were minimal. I could excuse Shane for being touchy-feely, but for a violent murderous enforcer like Zeke to plan soppy dates and talk about his feelings was very unbelievable. Despite all that, I liked Shane and Zeke as characters and I enjoyed their steamy connection, which is pretty much all you can ask for in a romance. I also liked the interracial / friends-to-lovers / opposite-attract tropes. Like the first book (The Convict), be warned that there is a spontaneous MMM+ scene, if that’s not your thing. I am hooked on these characters so I’ll definitely check out book 3 (The Prez). 🎧 Another great audio. Tor Thom’s deep voice really suited Zeke, while Michael Gallagher fitted Shane to a tee!
