Publisher's Summary

Siege of Terra Book 8, Part 2

Volume II picks up right where the first left off, with cataclysmic events building up to an epic conclusion that will shake the very galaxy to its core.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

The final battle aboard the Warmaster’s flagship has begun in earnest, as Sanguinius defies his fate and the Dark Gods in an attempt to end his brother’s life, and the war along with it.

THE STORY

Terra is besieged. The outcome of the war lies on a knife edge. The Warmaster Horus’ bloody seven-year crusade has led to this – the cradle of humanity, where he is to kill his father, the Emperor.

With the war at this critical juncture, Sanguinius, primarch of the loyalist Blood Angels, braves the horrors of the Warmaster’s flagship, The Vengeful Spirit, with a single purpose in mind – to slay his brother Horus, decapitate the Heresy once and for all, and stop the forces of Chaos from taking Terra.

But at the whim of a Warmaster fallen so far from grace, the Dark Gods will not make Sanguinius’ task easy. As the war edges towards its explosive, bloody conclusion, events are about to unfold that could either save humanity or plunge it headlong into an eternity of darkness.

Disappointing

Splitting the last book in two seems like an odd move, considering how little the story moves in this.
you could skip to the last 4 hours of this, and have missed little of importance.
Performance is great, as always

Disjointed and Needless

A disjointed read with many tangent story lines which did nothing to further the story or bring any real meaning.

Dragged out with Great bits here and there

basically all the parts you want to be great, ie those focusing on the heroes aboard the vengfull spirit. The rest seems unnecessary, I skipped many chapters not focusing on the characters I cared about and shaved quite a bit off the runtime and reckon I had a better experience for doing so.

The action is great and well written, the final fight of the book is excellent. There is just entire character arcs that could be shortened or cut altogether.

my advice is listen but feel free to skip here and there.

Felt like filler, but still good

The voice performance was great, however the story itself felt stretched far to much without adding anything. Couldve been a part shorter at least. Thankfully it should mean that Vol 3 will be excellent as theres nothing else to stretch out

a glorious death

An appropriately awesome tale. Beautiful, stringent, and elegant, Abnet has delivered another classic. Gorgeously detailed, it's a love letter to fans of this epic saga.

End Game

Reaching the final culmination from all the betrayal, fratride and genocide of the Heresy. This book contains rapid large steps towards the end game. The Emperors Full Might. Horus' dark depths. The death of almost all. The Dark King. The Death of a Primarch. Excellently written and narrated. Unmissable.

The last stand

another quality book in there series, not my favourite but well up there. I did struggle early to stick with it as there is alot of characters going in circles with the story, felt a little dragged out in parts but really does a great job of setting up the final battle and the situation the imperium find themselves in.

just too long

Normally Abnett is a wonderful read. these books however are just such an unnecessary drag and keep going over and over the same story beats from different points of view without adding anything.
