First time though I read this and didnt get into it as much as with other PFH books, but going though the audio book as a medium it just works better for me to comprehend the story? Much of that could well be the narrator, Toby L who I first encountered in the Horus Heresy series is an excellent story teller who could make a grocery list sound like the most important thing in the universe! Im sure that people think me slightly mad as whenever I hear him intone Kazimir Brunelli it makes me burst out in a grin :) so appropriate! As for the story I am happy to read/listen to anything that takes place in the confederation universe with its extended cast of interesting characters, the dream sections make me wish PFH would do a pure fantasy series, it is some of his best writing imho. Come on Amazon with only one more series of the Expanse you need to find a new scifi show, how good would this (extended) series look in 4k HDR!!!

Best author mixed with amazing narrator!

I followed up with this after the star flyer books in the Commonwealth. It has the same amount of polish, and the narrator is brilliant.
The only off putting thing is that it's a different narrator to the other books, and some of the crossover characters have different voices and accents.
It's unfair to reduce a review based on this, but it's just something I noticed and found difficult to adjust to after 40 hours of them having a different sound.
The story how ever is still just as brilliant, a great setting and I love the parts of indigo's dreams. All round awesome.

Great on its own

Not as good as John Lee, but honestly not as bad as some reviews have made out. Paula myo and Oscars voices are a bit annoying though.

Narrator not that bad...

I'm a big fan of the book but not of the narrator. Should be redone

Solid book but the narration could be better.

Really enjoyed this book A future where bodily artificial enhancement and long life extension is common place but humanity still suffers from all the ills we have today Religious zealotry, Greed and selfish pleasure to name a few The heroes in this story are several A young woman striving to make her own way in a complex world A man who has no memory of where he comes from but knows he must find a long lost religious but flawed dreamer and a young man who is committed to bringing evil to justice using his exceptional powers never seen before even in this extremely technically advanced society I can't for the life of me understand the criticism of the Narrator He does an excellent job and you would have to be extremely hard to please to find fault with his performance

Loved It

The voice acting in this book was just terrible. All the women sounded like a widowed dowager. Please rerelease with John Lee!

Voice acting was horrible

The narrators characterisations are horrendous. Everyone sounds like a hick, a bimbo or intellectually disabled. But, Hamilton's imagination still carries the day.

Barnstorming story let down poor narration

The narrator was very good. I think the criticism is overly harsh. I'm glad i gave this book a try.

Definitely worth it.
