About this listen

Did you know there are things that you can do to help your baby cry and fuss less? Did you know that many parents experience unnecessary disruptions to their sleep at night? Are you longing for a less exhausting, deeper connection with your little one?

The first months after a baby’s arrival can be exhausting, and attempts at quick fixes are often part of the problem. Some popular approaches accidentally interfere with a healthy night’s sleep, but we can change these. And there are many ways to help your baby cry less.

The Discontented Little Baby Book gives you practical and evidence-based strategies for helping you and your baby get more in sync. Dr Pamela Douglas offers a path that protects your baby’s brain development so that your little one can reach his or her full potential. Critic Reviews

'I can’t recommend this book highly enough. For parents, it’s the wisdom and information you need in the first year of your baby’s life. For caregivers, it’s a wonderful guide to improving your relationships with your patients by listening to them and being able to communicate in an effective and respectful manner.' (Tracy Cassels, director of Evolutionary Parenting)
'Dr Douglas showcases how to really enjoy early motherhood, while recognising one’s inner resilience.' (Australian Doctor Magazine)
'An easy-to-read guide … [Dr Pamela Douglas] dispenses sensible advice.' (The Advertiser)
'I would recommend reading it before the arrival of baby.' (Medical Observer)

I loved this book. The advice backed up my instinct and also provided evidence why the approaches and advice given work. I have already tested some or Dr Pamela’s suggestions with success. Thanks for this resource in a landscape of sleep training.

I think this book is extremely valuable to new parents - but I wish I hadn't bought the audible version.
The narrator commits a cardinal sin of narration: she OVER-emphasises EVERY second WORD (smiley inflection end of every sentence). The result is extremely distracting and a bit patronising. This is a great style for reading children's books, which the narrator would do a very good job at, but it is exhausting for an informative guide such as this. I cannot recommend the content more, though!
Ultimately, I'm not sure I will be able to continue the five hour trudge I have left through the audible version, so will have to commit to making time to read a hardcopy. It appears super easy to read though! It is divided up into bite sized chunks that can be done over a cuppa.

GREAT content, TERRIBLE narration
