About this listen

Random House presents the audiobook edition of The Crippled God: Malazan Book of the Fallen 10 by Steven Erikson, read by Michael Page.

The Bonehunters are marching to Kolanse, and to an unknown fate. Tormented and exhausted, they are an army on the brink of mutiny. But Adjunct Tavore will not relent. If she can hold her forces together, if the fragile alliances she has forged can survive and if it is within her power, one final act remains. For Tavore Paran means to challenge the gods.
Ranged against Tavore and her allies are formidable foes. The Fokrul Assail are drawing upon a terrible power; their desire is to cleanse the world - to eradicate every civilization, to annihilate every human - in order to begin anew. The Elder Gods, too, are seeking to return. And to do so, they will shatter the chains that bind a force of utter devastation and release her from her eternal prison. It seems that, once more, there will be dragons in the world.
And in Kurald Galain, where the once-lost city of Kharkanas has been found, thousands have gathered upon the First Shore. Commanded by Yedan Derryg, they await the coming of the Tiste Liosan. Are they truly ready to die in the name of an empty city and a queen with no subjects?
In every world there comes a time when choice is no longer an option - a moment when the soul is laid bare and there is nowhere left to turn. And when this last hard truth is faced, when compassion is a virtue on its knees, what is there left to do?Now that time is come - now is the moment to proclaim your defiance and make a stand...
And so begins the final cataclysmic chapter in Steven Erikson's extraordinary, genre-defining 'Malazan Book of the Fallen'.

I have loved this book. I found it to be beautiful yet brutal but essentially it is all about love and yes it made me weep at the end. Such a profound book in many way’s like all the previous books in this series it is without doubt the best series I have ever read or listened to. Erikson’s descriptive language skills are outstanding. He writes with humour and beauty in war and In relationships and I believe he has no equal. This last book has deeply affected me and although I will listen again I will wait a while before starting,, let the moments within sink in .
Narration is simply outstanding so thank you Michael for bringing these books to life. Also thanks to Audible for keeping the same narrator throughout. A wonderful wonderful series.

Amazing

I think Steven got the ending perfect after reading all books until toll of the hounds and changing to audiobooks. For the last few, very happy with the voice performance and telling of the story.

Great Ending to a series I loved

It's a really great conclusion to the end of the series. There are so many layers to this series and this ties most of them together. definitely a series to read and then reread to find all of the hints and understand a lot kn hindsight that was confusing on a first read.

Fantastic conclusion

I've read the Wheel of Time and much of the Cosmere novels. but nothing quite tugged at my emotions like this series and this boom was the beautiful pay off for the series. You have to read it for yourself!

The climactic ending to an amazing series

Michael Page is amazing and pulls you straight into the world of war and betrayals.

I'm very sad to leave it behind me, but all things must end eventually.

The End of an Epic Tale.

this book series has been an absolute slog. it started off incredibly interesting and engaging, but as the series went on, I quickly realised that although there are many intertwining stories, there are many, many, characters that pop up for entire books only to be dropped and never heard from again.

it often feels like the writer is trying to achieve a word count, with incredibly long passages and chapters that are spent on things that are simply totally inconsequential and almost always feel like a waste of time.

unfortunately, this all culminated for me at the end of this book where I just didn't care about anything. When there is enough written about things that don't matter - it becomes hard for me to determine what does matter, blending together into a bland soup that has some nice chunks in it, but is worse than it's parts.

frustrating, and I'm happy to walk away from this series.

incredibly long, and meandering.
