Great read, loved the characters

I laughed at the Aussie accent. Good voice . Lee it’s a great read and I couldn’t put it down. Thank you for the roller coaster ride with these two women.

Cringeworthy

The Australian accent In the narration is so bad ... so bad ... so bad... so embarrassingly, insultingly bad... so much so that it’s cringeworthy. The story is okay, but so difficult to listen to.

Meh

It was fine. Performance was good but the Aussie accent was more kiwi and got more annoying.
Not much happened in the book, very basic but drawn out plot. Elana is so emotionally constipated and basic. This author has significantly better works which I highly highly recommend

Entertaining

Cudos to the Narrator for giving the Aussie accent a go, but it was a little painful to listen to. If not for the thoroughly entertaining and funny storyline I may not have continued to listen.

A brilliantly written book

I adore this book. I’ve given up counting how many times I’ve read/listened to it. It has some fascinating insights into the world of fashion and publishing. It also brings into focus some definite current concerns about the abuse of power in the workplace. At its heart though, it is a tender and engaging love story. Lee Winter’s wordsmith is so brilliantly carved out that you can read it again and again. Angela Dawe’s voice as Elena Bartell is memorising and you’ll actually want to listen to the book again, just to listen to this character. I did take one star off for the Australian accent for Maddie, (that does grate for Australian ears, but most people won’t care).

Captivating

I was absolutely mesmerised by the characters and beautiful storyline. I agree with others that Maddie sounds like a Kiwi but that doesn’t affect the story. I’m knew to audio books. It adds another dimension.

Brilliant Story

That was just brilliant. Absolutely loved it and would recommend, my only issue was the Australian accent. It was woeful and difficult to listen to. I am not sure how a person from Frances would have found the French accent but hopefully it was OK.

Wonderfull story but hard listen for an Aussie.

Superb writing with an amazingly engaging and captivating storyline, Angela Dawe’s narration is quite diverse and well executed with the exception of her Australian accent, it lacked any form of accuracy and made it challenging to reach the end of this story, credit to Angela for giving trying though.

Aussie accent?!

Great story. Great characters. Great French. But the Aussie accent is way off. Americans seem to mash English and New Zealand accents together and think it sounds like us aussies! Lol. It’s comical. But still a great listen nonetheless.

One of my favourites

Loved this book! As an Aussie I agree with the other reviewers that the accent was not great, but I just imagined Maddie was a Kiwi instead from the start and no probs.
