I wasn't sure if I should get this book due to the reviews talking about how hard the Aussie accent was to listen and as I am Australian I figured it would bother me too. Well I am glad that I ended up purchasing the book as it was a great story and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it and the accents didn't bother me at all.

If you enjoy Lee Winters other books you will enjoy this one too :-)

This is the 2nd time I’ve listened to this story and I really enjoyed it 2nd time round. The mashing of the Aussie/Kiwi/parts of England sounding accent of the main character was annoying but I’ve heard so much worse. (Probably the aff-ter instead of arf-tuh were the worst) But accent aside the performance was very good. And it couldn’t stop me really enjoying the experience.
I’ve increased my rating from 4 stars (1st time) to 5 stars after listening a second time and after a long break in between. I very rarely re-read or re-listen to books. I was going to listen to a spin off from this story - The Awkward Truth and thought I should listen to The Brutal Truth, at least the start of it, to refresh my memory of the characters. I’d read many books in between.
Instead of stopping after remembering the characters I kept wanting to listen further, and further, and further.
I found the twists and turns, and the character development more and more interesting. I think I found a lot more subtext this time, whether author intended or not, it certainly added to my enjoyment. Thanks again!

Superb writing with an amazingly engaging and captivating storyline, Angela Dawe’s narration is quite diverse and well executed with the exception of her Australian accent, it lacked any form of accuracy and made it challenging to reach the end of this story, credit to Angela for giving trying though.

Cudos to the Narrator for giving the Aussie accent a go, but it was a little painful to listen to. If not for the thoroughly entertaining and funny storyline I may not have continued to listen.
