About this listen

This funny opposites-attract lesbian romance digs up the awkward truth about what really matters in life.

Ambitious ice queen and corporate lawyer Felicity Simmons has spent her life focused on one thing: scuttling up the career ladder. She's achingly close to taking charge of a media empire for her boss when she's sent to investigate a South Bronx charity that helps homeless people's pets. Has the charity made off with her boss's generous donation? And, who on earth is that gorgeous soft-butch veterinarian who looks as if she could toss a Shetland pony over one shoulder? Not that Felicity has any interest in some opinionated Amazon or her adorable fleabag of a dog.

Felicity is quite sure she will not be distracted, thank you very much. She has a minor mystery to solve, a mentor to impress, and her life's dream to fulfil. Even if a distraction might be exactly what she needs.

The Awkward Truth takes place during the last half of Lee Winter's The Brutal Truth but can easily be listened to as a standalone story.

This is a terrific novel and a brilliant sequel to the also brilliant brutal truth. Stands alone tho too. I’m really looking forward to the next one in the series. Excellent narration too.

Loved it

It’s obviously meant to be a bit quirky and the humor had me chuckling.

Also has deeper messages about humanity.

Keep them coming Lee Winter I like your style,
and so nice to have a laugh.

Entertaining

Such a great story as the base. Then begin smoothing off Felicity’s sharp edges without ruining her. And add Cooper, Felicity’s soft place to fall. Round it off with Lee Winter and Angela Dawe… hopefully longest winning streak (for)ever.

I really loved this book. not only did it have a great story line but some powerful themes running beneath the surface...those societal beliefs that money and power some how make us a better person...but leave emptiness. also the whole theme of how childhood experience shapes attachment. and relationship...really well thought out and provoking. love the humour round felicity character...at times I was laughing aloud while listening. good work Lee Winter a trilogy re Bartel Corp.

Another Lee Winter masterpiece.

Once again Lee Winter’s writing has you enthralled in a story of “ice queens”; and luckily for the reader/listener, with romance galore. This time it involves a cute dog, a vet who looks after the homeless’ pets and a mystery of a missing million dollar donation. The follow up to “The Brutal Truth” can be read as a stand-a-lone, but don’t do an injustice to yourself. Read, or listen to them both in order. You will be extremely satisfied. There’s also the added bonus of the dulcet tones of Angela Dawe’s narration.

“The Truth “ is out there.
