Publisher's Summary

During an unprecedented heatwave, the body of a young girl is found in a submerged suitcase in Loch Acorrymore on Achill Island. DS Lucy Golden is tasked with identifying her and returning her to her family. With the help of her team, they discover that the girl was a runaway, who had spent some time in a homeless shelter. She has been murdered and an investigation is launched.

Despite some promising leads, Lucy's enquiries seem to be going nowhere until another the body with connections to the homeless shelter is discovered in what initially appears to be a suicide. Lucy knows that there is no such thing as coincidence, but the race is on to find the link between the two victims before the trail goes cold.

As Lucy is drawn deeper into the case, she realises that these murders may be a whole lot more sinister than first thought. Can Lucy keep a clear emotional head and get to the truth before more girls end up dead?

Can’t wait for Book 3 for Lucy Golden

Another brilliant book by Martina Martin and performance by Aoife McMahon. Her hypnotic voice brings this brilliant story to life. I was so moved by the topic and I truly can’t wait for the next yarn.

Great story. Fabulous narration

It is a sign of the popularity of audio books when one follows the narrator (Aoife McMahon) to find what new authors is she working with! Which is how I found the
emerging Luck Golden crime fiction series. Set in Achill island in Co Mayo, Martina (author) lays out a captivating story with a surprising twist set in modern day Ireland. As with all great crime fiction, Lucy Golden is a flawed and brilliant detective who passionately serves the margins of society.

Entertaining

Great plot. Unpredictable and entertaining with lots or twists and turned and excellently described mannerisms of the characters as well as voices.

Perfectly plotted

Had this one on pre-order after loving the first in this series - this one doesn’t fail to deliver! Perfectly plotted it kept me hooked from the first moment - as ever Aoife McMahon’s narration can’t be beaten. Highly recommend for lovers of crime thrillers.

A new gritty female copper

Great read, both books in quick succession. Looking forward to Murphy continuing to develop a very intriguing set of characters. Always enjoyable to have the female protagonist perspective
