About this listen
Live Authentically and Function Effectively in All Areas of Your Life
In this first-of-its-kind book, Sol Smith combines current research, his personal experience as a late-diagnosed autistic adult, and lessons learned as an educator to show how you can transcend common mischaracterizations, overcome shame, and gain the skills to flourish. Sol knows that neurodivergent people often feel that nothing they have been taught relates to how they experience the world. To resolve this conflict, they try to change or mask who they are, which can cause isolation, depression, and anxiety. He advises the opposite: Understand yourself, accept yourself, and reduce conflict. Designed to help you peel away the shell of inadequacy and self-blame that often comes with neurodivergence, The Autistic’s Guide to Self-Discovery offers the necessary tools and knowledge to function effectively at home, at work, and in the wider world.

Extremely helpful book on Autism, by a person with AuDHD
I first discovered Dr Sol on tiktok. It was his tiktoks that helped me realise I am autistic. I was fortunate enough to be able to afford and then get a diagnosis. This book is great, Dr Sol backs up his information with researched evidence and his own experience. He doesn't go over some of the same things other authors have done, but covers new areas. His information on masking, rumination and some techniques to help with these things are great. I will listen to the book repeatedly as I know I will continue to get useful things from it each time. I highly recommend it for people who are autistic, it's not really something that is aimed at parents, friends or families, but autistic people themselves.
Thank you Dr Sol for the work you do.

Great for ADHDers too!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for writing this book! I am late diagnosed ADHD and I coach neurodivergent university students. This book was not only helpful for gaining a deeper understanding of the autistic experience from the inside but also my own experience as high-masking ADHDer. I have already been recommending this book in relevant conversations on TikTok and will be doing so for my ND students too.
Thanks again!
