Well rounded book
In his other books much of the action is centered around battles, that is not the case in this book. Much of the action is centered around the behind the scenes stories that led to the battles. I was very impressed with that aspect of it. Anyone who is even slightly interested in how the the revolution came about will be hooked from page one. Highly recommended this book.

Solid Book
A very engaging book. I didn't realize how much effort went into framing the Constitution and laying the foundations of our republic. The final documents went through two stages, first supreme powers to the States over the Federal Government. Then after Shays Rebellion, the second draft shifted supreme powers to the Federal Government over the States in matters of politics and economics.
The war highlights and prewar conflicts were also fascinating as British Empire failed to grasp the colonial mindset of 18th century America. Since there was no one who represented American interests in England. The American Revolution was inevitable despite the odds of winning their independence.
I definitely learned more from this body of work, thank you.

Different true, but still good
I love these kind of books because a good author can make the history seem as real as possible. With this book the author follows the grand tradition that his father started with "The Killer Angles". Primarily the book follows Ben Franklin, John Adams, Sam Adams, General Gage and Gerorge Washintion.

Excellent...
A great look at the founding of our country using the actual writings of our Fathers. The story tells details missed in history books and is written in a manner that is easy to read and feel the emotions interspersed in the text. I found it hard to set down and can't wait to read the next volume. If you like history, this is a must read.

A classic book
The book contains many interesting statistics gleaned from the research of economic historians that many books on the Revolution do not include. I would have liked to see a few topics included that were not. For example, the claim by some historians, following the economic interpretation of the Revolution outlined by Charles Beard in the early 20th century, that the extensive debt of Virginia planters and New England merchants was a key motivation for supporting the rebellion. This is a long and detailed book, but it is well worth the effort because it is comprehensive, tells an integrated and interesting story of the Revolution, and may well become a classic.

All fresh information for me.
This, on a few rare occasions confused me just a little in audio, since I couldn't go back and read something prior. The read was excellent. I highly recommend this to anyone. Side note: there is a good bit more about slavery and how it shaped politics, economics, and our present day than I would have expected, or had ever read about before.
