Story
Our attention has never been as overwhelmed or in demand as it is today; we've never been so busy while accomplishing so little, and we've grown uncomfortable with boredom and a lack of stimulation and distraction. In Hyperfocus, Chris Bailey - described by TED.com as 'the most productive man you could ever hope to meet' - provides profound insights into how we can best manage our attention. He reveals how the brain switches between two mental modes - hyperfocus, our deep concentration mode, and scatterfocus, our creative, reflective mode - and how the surest path to being our most creative and efficient selves at work is to combine them both.

Throughout history, there's been one indelible quality that great leaders, makers, artists and fighters have shared. The Zen Buddhists described it as inner peace, the Stoics called it ataraxia and Ryan Holiday calls it stillness: the ability to be steady, focussed and calm in a constantly busy world. This quality, valued by every major school of thought from Buddha to Seneca, John Stuart Mill to Nietzsche, is urgently necessary today. And, Holiday shows, it is entirely attainable.

Publisher's Summary
In a highlight-reel, microwave world - we’re led to believe success is right around the corner. It’s not working.
Not only is it not working with our ability to achieve our goals, we’ve never been more frustrated, stuck, and unfulfilled.
But what if there was a way to shut out the noise, fall in love with the process, and take one step forward every single day - leading to an undeniable confidence as we paint our life’s masterpiece?
Enter The 1% Rule - a daily system designed to help you close the gap without the crushing pressure that leads most people less inspired and more stuck.
The 1% Rule was designed to answer three core questions:
- Why do some people seem to achieve massive success in everything they do while others can’t even get out of their own way?
- What separates those who get excited and inspired for a season, a quarter, a month, or a week - and those who are consistently on fire?
- What are the core principles, mindsets, habits, and rituals of those who execute ruthlessly and those who sit on the sidelines pondering?
Through exploring these answers over the last decade, the core principles, strategies, and proven framework of The 1% Rule were born and are now yours today.
If you’re ready to ditch the highlight reel illusion...
If you’re tired of sitting on the sidelines waiting...
If you’re frustrated with the 24/7 noise...
You’ve come to the right place.

Good overall however...
I liked the book and it was told in an engaging manner. Practical examples with sound justifications for the activities. My big problem with it is that it doesn't come with any of the referenced additional material the narrator mentions. That bothers me immensely as I'm not interested in purchasing the e book or a physical copy to do that. Very disappointed that as audiobook listeners are missing out on valuable content.

Valuable content. Delivery could’ve been better.
This book is very, very powerful. And because of this, the book could’ve been shorter. It feels like the author tries to convince the reader about the 1% rule, as if he didn’t believe it was already powerful without too much explanation. I understand that this convincing game could be part of establishing credibility, but ultimately I felt like I was going through “fluff” in order to get to the good stuff. I also found technical issues with the audiobook that at first almost made me stop listening, but again, the content is A+, so I continued to give it a chance. Baker is the “no bs” coach that every entrepreneur needs to hear. I felt personally called out throughout this book and had numerous “aha” moments. You can’t make up this type of stuff. Baker knows what he’s talking about. I do believe that the narration could have been way, way better, since it feels almost like a fake enthusiasm instead of what could hace been a powerful and down-to-earth conversation. I can’t wait to see what else Tommy Baker writes, I will definitely read/listen to it regardless of delivery, editing errors or unnecessary length because I place a lot of value on the content that’s at the core of this book.

Dissapointment
The author mentions resources throughout the book but those resources are not available on the audio book. I went online to see if I could find any of the resources but the author does not have any on the web either. Over all the book is very generic and there is really nothing in the book to differentiate this book from the millions of other self help books out there. Don't invest in this book unless you are wanting to be disappointed.
