Story
It’s November 3, 2020, and Emma McMasters has just been elected the 46th president of the United States. She’s facing a divided Congress and nation, allies that no longer trust America, enemies that have been emboldened, and the legacy of destruction left by the last administration. She must rebuild and reestablish trust in government, in the media, and in the electoral system, all the while carrying the mantle of first female president, and along with it, the hopes and dreams of millions of women and little girls who need her to prove that a woman can get the job done.

Story
Sutton Spencer's ideas for her life were fairly simple: finish graduate school and fall in love. It would be a lot simpler if she could pinpoint exactly what she should do when she graduates in less than a year. Oh, and if she could figure out how to talk to a woman without feeling like a total mess, that would be great, too. Charlotte Thompson is very much the opposite.

An enjoyable book.
I quickly found myself listening for longer than I had planned. That 'just one more chapter' kept me up longer than I planned. The narrator did a wonderful job giving g voice to each character.

Great entertainment
This was a great telling of a fantastic story of knights and battles and dragons and dragon riders and it was exciting to listen as the narrator brought it to life

Not a favorite
I had a hard time with this one. The beginning of the book was very uneventful. I had a hard time sticking with it. The ending was better when the dragons finally entered.

Wonderfully done.
A very interesting and exciting story. However it does leave you guessing what happens. As far as the narration goes I was very pleased with the narrator, she done a wonderful job bringing life to the characters. I would recommend this book.

Unexpected treachery
Our heroine gets caught in a surprise attack and survives, but at what cost? And is this just the prelude to something bigger?
This story offers an interesting blend of science and magic, such as energy weapons, elf magic and dragons. The setting is fascinating but we only get to see one small corner of it in this story. Nonetheless, it certainly has me looking for more. Similarly, our characters are well developed with solid backgrounds and distinct personalities which round out the story nicely. Their interactions make the story come alive and provide an occasional bit of humor as well. Add in a plot that includes some intrigue and you have a wonderful story. I am definitely looking forward to the next book.
Highly recommended.
As this is an audio book, I should also comment that the narration was very well done, with crisp and clear enunciation.
I received an ARC from StoryOrigin for review purposes.

Takes off like a jet from an aircraft carrier
Squire Derel (Knight Protector, Book 1), my thirteenth read from prolific author Rachel Ford and the first book in her Knight Protector series. A well-written & enjoyable book that takes off like a jet fighter from an aircraft carrier and only picks up speed from there. 8-hours 21-minutes of pleasurable reading. No matter the genre a Rachel Ford book can be counted on to be entertaining & enjoyable. I look forward to the next book in the series, Mountain Witch (Knight Protector, Book 2), Oh well, I have other Rachel Ford books to read. Lynne Ennis's narration makes a good book even better. "I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Great Tale
This story was amazing! It starts fast and keeps going from there! The story is well written and keeps your attention from start to finish. The narrator did a good job with the range of the performance. I am glad I get up early everyday because I was able to listen to this in one shot and I didn’t miss a thing. I kept jumping because of the unexpected turns the story took, some things you know will happen and others jump out and bite you.
I received a free copy of this audio book for a voluntary honest review.

Slow start to an epic dragon-back demolition derby
I will say this was a good story and the only fault I have with it doesn't warrant me giving it a lower score. When listening to audio books I tend to prefer those that grab my attention from the start and keep my mind from wandering off. Unfortunately, because of the need to set the story up properly for the end, I often found my mind wandering for the first couple of chapters. I do feel that if I personally was reading it rather than listening, it would still have received a 5-star rating. I mean how many times does one hear discombobulate in a story and more than once.

A superb start
A superb start to a series, I was hooked by the first line, Excellent intelligent storytelling creating a believable world with a mixture of dragon's and skimmers, blasters and swords, Starts at a frantic pace, slows a little to let you catch your breath and them rushes to a glorious climax which leaves you gasping for book 2. Great strong female lead characters. Narrator does a brilliant job with the story. More please
