Rock thrills her, but she's not going to throw away everything she's built on a fling with her criminal client. not as gritty as I thought

for an MC pres rock is a bit on the tame side. maybe it's because it's book 1 and we'll see the dark side in book 2. things happened pretty quick in terms of storyline, although it was a span of 2 years.
all in All, it moved well although heroine seems to be portrayed in her thought pattern as younger as her 30 something years.
I'm thinking it's because she's been with all but one man her whole life and it has been a clean, domestic bliss with no lawlessness involved...even though she's a lawyer.
troy just makes you melt and I like noelle's voice...(1st time for me)
I've listened to a lot of gritty, gut wrenching MC books (tillie Cole!) but this mild...so far, we'll see in book 2

Glad I didn't pass this by!

I am not a fan of MC stories, mostly because of the language (somehow the f-word is king and no one is creative enough to come up with better) and the gratuitous sex with any female with a pulse. But, this story surprised and intrigued me. There was all the f-bombs and gratuitous sex, but the hero really cleaned up his (sex) act for the heroine. But, they still had to deal with it, since she met up with his previous partners all the time. Rock actually wished he hadn't been so free with it - imagine that! And, he did something about it.

All the characters are interwoven into a big family - who care a great deal about each other. This book sets up the series and does it well. Be aware: the story of Rock and Hope doesn't end with book 1 - you will need to get at least through book 3. But, let's face it, Troy Duran's narration makes it all worth while!!!

Love this book and narration

I’m a huge Autumn Jones Lake fan so when I saw that her first three books were on audible I had to buy them.
Loved Troy Duran as Rock and I actually really enjoyed Noelle Bridges voice for Rock as well!
Great listen!

Glad I Gave It A Listen

Book 1 was included in the Escape Package, so I thought I would give it a try. I am glad that I did because this book captured my attention right away and hooked me. I have purchased book 2 and cannot wait to see what happens next. The narrators also do a great job!

Love, love, love!

Character development and a real plot! Hurray!

Rock was a pleasure to hear about, truly. Troy Duran's amazing voice really fits him. Neither character is perfect, and they have obvious, yet realistic flaws. The time frame is realistic, too; they don't just fuck, have a kid and get married in 3 months like a generic storyline often works for (this is not a spoiler, by the way. Genuinely just an example). No, there was a real plot here. You truly feel the importance of club life for Rock, and Hope's loyalty, inner turmoil and intelligence - Hope isn't a damsel in distress being saved by the "big, bad but not-so-secretly romantic MC President" and then swooped off her feet to whatever wonderful life lies ahead. We really get a story.

Even side characters like Sophie, Bricks and Trinity were given some love by the author. They had real personalities and weren't just flat stereotypes. It's really difficult to get this kind of character development right, but it happened!
I've listened to this one multiple times, and every time I find myself falling in love with these characters, the mc, the dynamics and the storyline. Even though I know the progression by heart, the narrators make it sound interesting.

Now, Troy Duran has one hell of a voice for this, but so does Noelle Bridges. She truly fits Hope's character and has the perfect speed - you get to follow along nicely, yet it doesn't go too slow so you get bored (and I'm easily bored, so this says a lot). The tone and emotions she pins on Hope are perfect for her, just like Duran's voice fits Rock.

All in all, I cannot recommend this book enough! If you're new to genre like I was when I first got it, you'll have your expectations set high. I have yet to find a book as good as this one - and I'm picky.

Love Love Love!! and Troy Duran---Yes Please!!

Rock and Hope are one of my favorite couples. The Lost Kings MC is a fun and fascinating place to settle in and wait for the stories to unfold. I love the mix of character types and the way AJL weaves them all together. You can feel the brotherhood that is the foundation of the club. Watching Hope integrate into Rock's world is at turns funny, sad, frightening, and infuriating. Following Rock's path to better understanding Hope and how to balance communicating with her while keeping "club business" quiet is also very entertaining. What can I say, this is one of my favorite series and I bought these audio versions because I knew they could be recordings I listen to while I'm working so I'm not distracted trying to follow a new story line. I have read them multiple times and listened to these recordings more times that I can count. I cannot WAIT for more in the series to be released on audio.

Troy Duran is spectacular. I love his deep sexy voice, but beyond that he is one of the best I've heard in communicating the emotional range of the character. Also, while it might seem a small thing, I believe it is rare because it really stood out to me that he very effortlessly incorporated laughing, chuckling, growling, etc. as it was described in the text. He is so good that after my first listen of all three I immediately searched his name and bought a couple of books just because he is the narrator.

Noelle Bridges is good too.

My only complaint/suggestion would be to have the male narrator speak all of the male dialogue and the female do the same for the female dialogue. I know opinions vary, but I have a VERY hard time with women reading as a male character. As a rule it pulls me out of the story pretty much every time. I seem to be able to deal with the reverse better. I realize this is where the differing opinions come in because some people feel the opposite.

Exceptional !

This was my first read of Ms Jones Lake and it was a really enjoyable experience. The storyline is obviously very well thought out and expertly executed.
However, it was the Audiobook narration that made the difference for me . I have been listening to audio increasingly over the last 6-7years and Noelle Bridges and Troy Duran knocked it out of the park. Very enjoyable _because_ of the excellent 'Listening' value !

When I thought I couldn't love this book more...

The narrator's voices are perfect, especially Rock's. I loved listening to one of my favourite AJL novels and hearing the characters come to life. If you love an alpha guy and a strong female lead, this book is for you.

Beyond 5 Rock Solid Stars

I adored this book when I read it for the first time & I couldn’t wait to hear Rock & Hope brought to life through audio.

The narration is perfect. OMG... Troy Duran as Rock is just...wow ! And Noelle Bridges gives an awesome performance too.

Highly recommend.
