Publisher's Summary

Blake "Murphy" O'Callaghan, Road Captain of the Lost Kings MC, has the world by the balls. Money. Women. The wide-open road. It's all his, everything he wants...except the one girl he loves, the one girl who's off limits. His best friend's little sister, Heidi.

Abandoned by her mother when she was only 8, Heidi Whelan's familiar with heartbreak. Especially the heartbreak of falling in love with her big brother's best friend. When Murphy pushed her away, it broke her heart. Now, on her 18th birthday, he claims he loves her? Growing up around the Lost Kings MC, Heidi's witnessed his manwhoring ways. He'll never give that up for her. Besides, he's too late: Heidi's in love with her high school boyfriend Axel.

With more than miles between them, will the deceptions they've lived with for so long be too much to overcome? Can Murphy convince Heidi that the hard roads they've traveled will lead to the most beautiful destination of all, or is he destined to ride the open road alone?

Contains mature themes.

Emotional roller coaster!

Well, where has Autumn Jones Lake been hiding? This is the first book of hers that I have had the pleasure to listen to, and I will be going back to enjoy the others in the series, While it stands alone, I could tell the cohesiveness of the characters has been built throughout the other books and I can't wait to delve into them. This is Murphy, Heidi and Axel's story, and it's got every emotion in it. Murphy has always been in love with Heidi, but her being younger and his best friend's sister has had him keeping his distance. Now 18 though, he is ready to stake his claim. Is he too late? Heidi is in love with Axel, and when things for the two don't work out as planned, they move to Alaska where Axel gets a job. Things promised, life is never easy and changes occur. But the biggest change of all hits them, and now miles and distance mean nothing. What a story! The unexpected, the secrets, the deception and betrayal, and the passion all ride high and kept me engaged with these characters. I love Heidi. Young, but mature for her age, she is not afraid to voice her opinion and go after what she thinks is best. Axel is young and selfish, but he does have those first love qualities that make you feel for him. And Murphy, is the ultimate man. Yes, he has flaws, but he is always there. Loved every minute of this one and I will definitely be grabbing more.

This book is written is several points of view, and the narration picks up each one with ease. Stephanie Rose has one of the best new adult voices, and she captures Heidi's personality perfectly. She gives each emotion the inflection that tugs your heart. Tor Thom is Axel and Murphy. Axel is a tough one, and Thom nails him. He is young, immature and just not ready for the hand life has dealt. Each scene depicts that exact feeling as Thom portrays him. As Murphy, the strong, alpha feel baritone comes through with caring, and Thom's voice melts your heart. It's a great team and an very enjoyable listen.

Finally Together

I am a huge fan of the Lost Kings series. One of the reasons is that Autumn writes characters that I easily relate to. In this book we see two important characters find themselves and each other after taking unexpected paths. I love that they finally got together!!!

RUINED FOR ME BY NARRATORS

I couldn't even make it through the first chapter due to narrator change. How anyone could even consider replacing Troy Duran with Tor Thom is well..... ridiculous. The series stops here for me if this is what the author chooses for future releases. Too bad, the first 5 books were great. Probably the best MC series I've ever read and listened to.

Murphy and Heidi

Almost nothing in this book is about the MC. This is the story of Axel, Heidi, and Murphy. While I have thoroughly enjoyed the previous storylines and narration of previous books in the series, this one was a little disappointing by comparison. Female narration was much more nasal than previous installments and male narration was just not nearly as good. I think they may have been aiming for different, younger voices. Maybe I was hoping for too much after having enjoyed the previous books — this one fell flat...

So loved Heidi's and Blake's story.

I knew this book would be fabulous on audible!!!!!. I love all of Autumn Jones Lakes books. This is another one I'll be listening to over and over. Heidi's and Blake's journey is where you can watch them both grow so much. I want more of Autumn's books to be available on audible.

Struggling with New Voice

As a fairly avid lover of Autumn's LOKI and Hollywood Demons series. I personally struggled getting through the first couple chapters of this audiobook. I love love the book, but I as a listener struggled to accept the male as Murphy/Blake's voice. Especially when I felt in the war room for a moment some of the brothers were given a momentarily southern accent. But by the end I was truly enjoying it. I will definitely add this to my list of books I relisten to regularly. Can't wait for the next.

Narrators made it difficult

Love this Series didn’t care for the narrators felt like they tried way to hard to sound sultry 🤮. Story was good thought Hedi moved on too quickly. But also understood she is a young character. Really hope to hear more of the MC and pray Autumn Jones Lake goes/chooses her previous narrators 🤞🏼
