Publisher's Summary

The game has only just begun....

Hall had thought he knew everything about the game, but he’s finding every day that things are different in this new, broken version of Sky Realms Online. There are new game elements, new enemies, and even new locations.

After just barely surviving his first boss fight, Hall finds himself in one of those new locations. He's become the lord of a ruined and isolated village called Skara Brae, deep in the middle of hostile territory.

Hall and his companions must make the long trek to the city of Silverpeak Keep for much-needed supplies, or they'll risk losing everything. He hopes the journey will help determine what to do with Skarra Brae, his new in-game home.

What he thought would be a simple journey through the foothills of the Thunder Growl Mountains becomes so much more. From raging undead to a gang war between two thieves guilds, Hall will need new allies to survive more surprises than ever before. And the threat of permadeath still looms.

The hit new litRPG series Sky Realms Online continues with Silverpeak. It's perfect for fans of J. A. Hunter, Dakota Krout, and Edward Brody.

Performed by Pavi Proczko, narrator of Eden's Gate and Continue Online.

No village building :(

So I really debated giving this book 3 stars instead of 4, but realized it was because the first book ended with the formation of a town and I was really looking forward to some town building to start off this book. Needless to say I was disappointed. If you are looking for some sweet own building action this is not the book for you.

Overall this is an okay to decent LitRPG book with a focus on politics of Silverpeak more than anything else. Without giving too much away you are introduced to some new characters. An NPC Warden who’s character comes through loud and clear, and a player thief who is substantially less clear.

The main plot of the book is a gang war which when combined with the undead battle in the beginning of the book makes the entire book feel like a side quest. The beginning of the book does introduce some new information about the realm and some hints at where answers will be found but other than that it is just a decent tale about some characters that were developed during the first book. This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Overall I hope the author continues the series but spends some time between now and the next book to figure out how he is driving his character forward so they do not seem to be just going through a meandering tale.

Paul or Hall?

A bit monotonous. The narrator repeatedly switched between ‘Paul” and “Hall” from the very start. I overlooked at first (and it has been some time since the first book, so I don’t remember if it was the same) but the variance detracts from the listening experience... just one of those things that once you notice it, each occurrence makes it hard not to hear it every time.

Otherwise, wonderful pacing for the read, good voice acting and the author does himself credit. A nice sequel in the series!

A solid entry in the series, great LitRPG

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

TLDR; Do you like LitRPG? If you do this one won't let you down.

Picks up right where we left off, trying to get the village settled and going. We are introduced to someone doing some overall orchestration, to the world. Then our heroes go on some more adventures, get some new loot, make some new friends and defeat some enemies. Look LitPRG isn't really the genre for breaking molds it's about filling the RPG niche in book format and this does that in a great way.

Great follow up.

This book starts where the first one ended. It was a good continuation for the series, but still no more hints about their bodies. We also get some new characters that add some good elements to the Guild and story. The book does have a solid ending and doesn't end in a cliffhanger, but does give a hint what the next one will be about. The narration was good. I received this book for free for my honest review.

I liked the book.

I received a free review copy of the book.

I enjoyed the book. I liked the premise of the story and how the main characters accomplished quests. The combat was good also.

In this story, Hall and friends set out to get building supplies for their town. They engage in several quests on the way. After they arrive at the city, they find they are on a cusp of a thieves guild war and are tasked with ending it before it begins.

I think there could be more dialogue with the characters developing their relationships more, for example Hall/Paul and Lee, Hall and the dwarf, and Hall and Sabine. My personal taste would include more talking so there would be a better balance of it with combat and quests. I want to know the characters and their relationships better so the story can stir the emotions better.

Good as the first

Continuing to remind of me Ultima Online, Osgood does the job of taking me into SRO. Loving this series. Can't wait for many more.

Great Series

I really love this series so far. The potential for world building is really exciting in this series. This second installment follows the group of protagonists as they begin to search the surrounding area to their new settlement. Along the way Hall picks up new members for his group/settlement. The group, trying to create relations with a neighboring city, get caught in the middle of a guild war. The writing is really great. I enjoy how the author uses evoling quest chains to progress the story. I hope the next book will focus on world building and development of the main antagonist, who is only in the last chapter, a non factor for this story. The narration and production are great. I hope for longer books in the future. I highly recommend this series.

Fun

Good story and Narration!

The gang is back and looking to provide for their new town! They need people, allies and supplies, and so the set off in search of opportunity. Will the succeeds? Will they level up? Will Hall take the next step with a certain lady druid?

I enjoyed it, and if you liked the first one you probably will too.

Round 2

A thoroughly enjoyable book 2 in the Sky Realms series. This book picks right up where book 1 left off, and continues the story of Hall and his companions. If this was all just hacking through bad guys to get to boss fights, I think the story would be pretty dull, but there's quite a bit of character development with the lead as he continues to embrace his new life inside the game. And we also see some world building here, which is my favorite part of a fantasy series. I liked this book, bring on book 3.

Series progressing well

This is the second in this series and while you could just jump into the series at this point, the first instalment would add greatly to your enjoyment of this one and it would be better to listen to them in order to get the proper sense of progression for the main cast.

This book picks up directly after the end of the first one and see our heroes needing to venture out from the newly claimed village in order to acquire the equipment and people they need for it to grow, these needs result in them suffering a series of trials and tribulations that result in an entertaining listen.

The narrator's performance is again a strong one that keeps the main cast suitably distinctive and nicely enhances the story for the listener.

Overall, this series progresses nicely in this second instalment, but the book is also strong enough in it's own right too.

Great sequel to a growing story world

So the sequel to Sky-realms, Silverpeak pretty much follows on direct from the first book, and doesn’t disappoint right from the start. The story continues with the heroes as the carry on getting to grips with their new world, and the adventure rolls right on encompassing the role play theme in a way that doesn’t make the flow of the story stutter. The characters develop and if anything grow more likeable throughout the book, and the introduction of the newer characters on enhanced the sequel. As per the previous book Pavi provides excellent narration, and from not having heard him in previous books he is gaing a fan in me.

Overall this book carry’s on the great story whilst expanding the Sky-realm universe whilst maintaining the mystery of what happened to the players, a recommended read/listen not only for fans of fantasy or LitRPG but anyone who likes a hood character driven story with adventure.

decent litrpg series good narration

a interesting backstory of glitched RPG game which makes the players part of the game, set up well enough.
the writing sometimes repeats the"game elements"too much, making it slower than necessary.
luckily the narrator manages to keep the story moving well enough and separate characters feel reasonably well voiced.

A giant side quest

I recieved a review copy of this book. The story continues from the previous book then immediately diverts down a massive side quest as the adventurers seek friends and resources for their new village. I was initially a little disappointed to not explore the village mechanics but overcame this quickly as the story unfolded. Thinking back the story has so far presented a very organic world so this side quest fit well. I look forward to see where thre next book takes the story.
