Publisher's Summary

Big. Green. Barbaric. Who says a troll can’t be the hero?

You are what you choose to be. And after years of online trolling, Chad has become just that.

A troll. A rager. An entertaining a**hole.

When his online persona finally catches up to him, he's sentenced to 30 days of full-immersion therapy designed to improve his anger issues.

In order to experience what it's like on the other side, he's forced to play as a forest troll, a long-hated race in Isle of Mythos.

To make matters worse, there are other “heroes” sent to rid the world of evil, each one on their own paths of twisted redemption.

As Chad embraces the mantle of Chod the Barbarian Forest Troll, he quickly discovers that there's more to troll society than meets the eye, and his rage might be all that stands between them and extinction.

Trolling is easy, but being a hero...

mc is a moron

Another lit RPG where the supposed pro gamer is nothing but an incredible moron not able to see the most obvious of things While the MC in this book is not a whiny baby as nearly as much as some he is still a over dramatic crybaby

Amazing Story

One of the best books in the genre that I have listen to. Rowland created an amazing world that draws you in completely. More than once I found myself wishing that the Sentenced to Troll universe was real.

better than the concept

the concept that the MC was sentenced to play as a troll for the crime of griefing, is the weakest part of the series. this is only a small part of the overall story but as the setup and reason for the title it cannot be ignored.

Hard to do this

Frakly it's going to be difficult to do this, since I got this instead of the origonal books. Here's my review, broken up by book:

Book 1
This was facinsting, especialy looking into the social interactions with this story.
This story really allows for charecter development between all the charecters. The NPCs are all fully realised while the prisoners, it seems, are able to show off the issues that got them improsoned in the first place. Facinsting.
I’m here for this story, every facit, and I am really excited to see more in the next couple books. Idk if that’s where this series will end but I need to catch up, that’s for sure.
The world building is great, using a combination of methods to show off the world. I’m really excited to know more about the history of this surprisingly in deaph world.

Book 2
I can’t say I’m happy about the events in my life that lead to me being able to do this, but I am happy to finish this great book.
This story focuses more on characterization of a limited cast than the first book, limiting the cast down to a few charecters that allows the story to be really in-deaph.
This second story expands the scope of the adventures a whole bunch from the previous book, showing off so much more of the world. I really was happy to learn so much about this setting.
This second book is less story based. Sure there are story threads throughout the book but charecter development takes center stage as a way to expand the scope for the next book, which I’ll bet is more story focused again.
I’m enjoying these revelations and I want to know more going forward, both with the main vshsrecters and with side charecters who have been introduced.

Book 3
This was a really great story and was both able to provide closure for this trillogy while also providing room to grow for future volumes. I know how hard it can be to try to balance satisfying conclusions with putting more out there for people to read.
Charecter development takes a step back into being great but not the major focus of the story, returning the focus to the growing plotlines that are both being tied up here and also being created. Now readers will definetly be shown to the idea that they should continue.
I like to think of books, trillogies, and other units of these stories as more simular to "Arcs" in anime and manga fiction. These allow for different catagorizations which can be both WITHIN a book or consisting of books. At this point in the series one arc has come to a close and a new one has oppened.

Conclusion
Heartily recomended!

Amazing

I love this author! I had no idea what I was getting myself into when getting this box set but man do I love that I did. I hope that he makes a 4th book because this series just can’t end just yet!

Great story

I really enjoyed the story and fell into the world myself. The characters are amazing and the flow of their actions and the reasons is well thought out. The narration is great as well. Many different and individual voices and inflections. Overall I could not be happier about these books and highly recommend them

Great series!

This is a great way to get the first 3 books of the series all it once. Really fun series! The plot is well thought out. The characters are interesting. I really like the game world, too. The narration is very professionally done. Great audiobook to have!

the bundle is worth it

if you like lit rpg this is a good way to go. don't think I'd spend a credit on each individual book, but this is a solid value.

Reasonable read with issues

Ignoring the premise of Chad's parental issues, and the horrid contrivance that keeps him in the VR, the rest of the story is a reasonable read, the characters are not terrible but the fight scenes are horribly rock and roll wrestling scripted. Also Rowland has some writing issues, such as redundancies and malapropisms, that required a strong editor, and leads me to think he had not reviewed his own work anywhere near enough.
An interesting choice to have a narrator with a lisp. Eric Jason Martin is actually a very good narrator, the lisp being very mildly annoying. I think I heard a Spoonerism in book 3, but that's an audio editing mistake.
Book#3 is not the end, I'd think there is likely at least another 3 books to come ... although I'm going to wait for them to be a compendium before continuing with this series.

“If you mess with the bull, you get the horns!”

Steven was my first experience of LitRPG and the Troll books will forever be a firm favourite of mine… especially so when you get 3 books in 1!
A brilliant story with amazing characters, mixed with excellent skill progression that just gets you hooked!
Absolutely love it and I can’t wait for the next in the series!
I won this book as part of a competition, but had already listened to the first 2 stories as well as other books by Steven too.
Oh and let’s not forget the great narration. Perfect pacing, tons of atmosphere and brilliant character voices that are clearly differentiated!
More please!!!
