Stilted

The story was great but the audio was very very stilted. There were long pauses that were unnecessary and gave the book an overall stilted feeling. It was like they pieced it all together from other recordings and didn't edit the pauses or gaps out.

Great second book

I cannot wait for the third book. I would even say, the second was better than the first book 🤓

Dang good story!

I had a hard time putting the last two books down. Spend the credit if you like a clean story without being to young adult. It is a coming of age series so it's expected to be about teens etc.

Great book, excellent character development!!! I need more

I love the route this book is taking. I gave 4 stars for performance because sometimes the pauses between voices was a little long. This is my first time reading a series by Robyn and I will definitely be checking out his other material.

Has potential

I rates this book as "it's okay." Stopped listening to this story about half way through. It has such potential but too frustrating for me to continue. It is surfacy in every way -- character development, environment, challenges. The language is too simplistic, lacking depth. It is sort of like a 10 year old wrote this story. If the author had developed a depth in every aspect of this book, it could be incredible. For example, the group goes to the ancient lands for a goal to find and sell artifacts. This land has so much mystery, history, magic, and the undead dwarfen protectors. Who are the protectors? Why are they considered the enemy? The main character is part dwarf and has not inquired about a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g in that land --the buildings, the artifacts, the undead. It would be super if the author wrote into the story some intriguing finds about his heritage, about the artifacts, about the undead. Also generally the group has the same conversations and same lame fighting sequences. Finally, the narration is marginally acceptable but there are so many distracting pauses between sentences, it is stupid.

love it!

please keep these books coming! I love the direction and how the author keeps the group together but keeps the story from 1 perspective. the MC could be a wee bit more powerful. it kind of disappointed me that he couldn't flatten that pretentious twit Isaac Dixon in the last fight scene I was hoping jack would own his ass like a boss.

Builds on the exceptional first entry

I very rarely look at litRPG books but stumbled across this series and I'm glad I did.
The author hasn't tried anything earth shattering, they've written two very good books and the narrator does a brilliant job of bringing the characters to life. Really looking forward to future entries in the series.

keeps getting better, 4.5 stars, narratoration meh

really loving the direction this series is going. great characters. fun story and the ending makes you wanting more.
my only negative here is Vikas Adams is ruining thr dialogue. the pauses arent as bad as book one but his voices are constantly breaking immersion and are just bad. ill keep it up because the story is so good but my ears hurt.

worth the credit. as long as your ears can take it.

Great story with an even better performance

The performance was really good. All the different voices for all of the characters was really impressive.

The story is very good also. A little simplistic at points but still fun. Really like all of the different skills that the characters have though at points the explanations can get a bit long.

Ok story ruined by stilted narration

I'm having to listen to this story at 1.6x speed just to deal with the strange gaps and brakes in dialogue. The narrator is now officially on my avoid list after this repeated issue.
