Publisher's Summary

Soon to be a TV series starring Chris Pratt.

Deep in the wilds of Siberia, a woman is on the run, pursued by a man harbouring secrets - a man intent on killing her.

Half a world away, James Reece is recovering from brain surgery in the Montana wilderness, slowly putting his life back together with the help of investigative journalist Katie Buranek and his longtime friend and SEAL teammate Raife Hastings.

Unbeknown to them, the Russian mafia has set their sights on Reece in a deadly game of cat and mouse.

In his most visceral and heart-pounding thriller yet, Jack Carr explores the darkest instincts of humanity through the eyes of a man who has seen both the best and the worst of it.

Critic Reviews

"Carr writes both from the gut and a seemingly infinite reservoir of knowledge in the methods of human combat. Loved it!" (Chris Hauty, best-selling author of Deep State)

Suspense!

Amazing story, you feel you are actually in the pages with James Reece. Book 3 continues with most of the characters from the other two books.
Excellent Narration by Ray Porter.

An infomercial that you pay for. Bloody good but.

Old mate goes on and on about gear and plugs so many different brands it's practically an infomercial. I bloody loved it though. The plugs of the different brands that his SOF brothers have started shows the character that the author posses. Still looking out for his mates even after leaving the teams. What a top bloke. Would love to hear Reece jumping in with some Regiment boys from Aus, maybe in a future novel. Loved the story, absolutely. This is my third book I've listened to by Jack. Always difficult to stop listening and crack on with other things I need to get done. The bloke reading really needs to work on his female voices though, they speak with bigger balls than some of my mates haha! Thanks for the novel, gonna grab the next one. Cheers mate.

Too much MAGA

This book might actually be better than my review indicates. I just couldn't get over the good guys being MAGA supporters. Especially the girl friend working at Fox News. Knowing she is actually trying to bring down American Democracy makes it hard to be invested in whether she survives or not. Otherwise the story is pretty kick ass.

Book 1, 2, 3, and 4 done

I am not really a gun person but the story would not be as it is without the in depth descriptions.

Awesome read/listen. Will be looking out for no. 5. Ray Porter, you 🪨.

Amazing

Love these books, I am lucky enough to be able to listen as I work and man, I’ve went through them too fast but I can’t hold back. Not only is the story telling and detail amazingly well done, the narrator is one of the best narrators I’ve ever listened too and I’ve been listening to all my old favourite classics and new books alike these past few years so thought I knew what good was, until now. Give it a go people, from book 1 of course. Semper.

A bit heavy on the patriotism,

I really do enjoy this series, and Jack carr can tell a gripping story with obviously a lot of knowledge and personal experience. Even the sections involving aircraft are accurate which is very unusual for books/movies (as a pilot I am pleased to see this).
As a Brit my eyes roll at the cringe comments about ‘freedom & liberties & brotherhood’ etc. Also the redacted sections seem pointless for a fiction?? Anyway still love this series!!!

Brilliant as always from Jack Carr

Read brilliantly by Ray Porter. Jack knows what he’s writing, the first hand operator experience flows off the pages like fog over field.
Can’t recommend this series enough. Only issue now is the wait for the next instalment!

Surpassed all the other books now

Jack Carr has taken James Reece to another level in Savage Son. I love Ray Porters narration he really captures the nuances of the characters.
I really enjoyed how James Reece went back to his origins as a frogman. Really Top Notch Mr Carr. 🙏🙌🇺🇲🔱 ☆☆☆☆☆

The best of the three books yet

A bit reminiscent of a 90's film called Surviving The Game but very cool nevertheless. My favourite of the books so far.

Son

Ray Porter's narration is so perfect for this book.
He brings the warriors to life.

In this book we have not just one warrior, hunting for revenge, but a group, willing to help a team mate.

Russia mafia, CIA, Betrayal, murder and man with a cruel mind.

A fast action plot.

Very competent on technical detail

At times a bit pious and worthy inmho, but clearly written by someone who knows their black ops stuff. probably best to listen to the books in order of release.
