Knowledge is power

I’ve been miserable and stuck feeling defective my entire 38 years of life and to actually know *why* has been life changing. If I didn’t find these books, my life would continue to be meaningless and I’d never stop being depressed. This book and her other one are SO important. I recommend a trauma therapist if you’ve never had anyone sane validate you. But there is hope if you want to actually live for yourself finally. I just really still can’t believe the mark CEN leaves on a person..damn.

Educational

This book helped me understand my CEN Childhood Emotional Neglection and begin the healing process. Emotions that are not transformed are transferred. I want to pass my child a better foundation of BOUNDARIES and understanding or EQ or Emotional Intelligence so we can become a better family and her future is brighter. This book is a must read.

All in one

After reading Dr. Jonice Webb’s, “Running On Empty” it was necessary for me to continue my healing with the skills I learned in, “Running On Empty No More.” Important and deeply necessary, without Dr. Webb, I would still be hurting. God bless her amazing insightfulness to help others after seeing patterns in her sessions to coin and write on, “CEN,” “Childhood Emotional Neglect.” I hope to thank her in person some day, maybe at a book signing.

Excellent Opportunity For Change

This book tops the previous book. Taking into account that I have read some of the best resources in regards to overcoming a traumatic childhood and life including material by Pete Gerlach and cnvc, this book presents methods and conversations in a practical and empathetic way to begin the road to healing. It also ties those resources together and also completes the picture...of a family. I now have the distinct ability to recognize and organize the massive amount of parts of what is seemingly so simple and undetectable even in a family with no CEN. I would previously just say “well that family doesn’t do that; that is, yell at, berate or physically abuse their children”. I’d say that and not know what it was they did do. This book completes that picture. I look to heal my 25 year relationship with my borderline husband keeping watch on my own words & behavior when he falls short of accessing his feeling words and turns to thought words and conclusive false perceptions instead. I would say this book is the definitive place to start.

Too elementary

It did not speak to my issues. In addition, the narrator has an annoying voice that literally sounds like Siri.

Great book, terrible recording

Countless awkward edits where the flow was completely interrupted, multiple in-sentence corrections, constantly fluctuating white noise levels.

This book was even more powerful to read than the first book. Grateful and blessed to be able to use it in therapy sessions with my clients.

Fantastic book

It is really helpful to finally put a name to what I feel was missing. The author uses 2 families to describe some of the most common scenarios where CEN affects relationships.

Great book if you and/or your spouse have CEN, even better if you have children of your own.

I felt that there was more attention given to talking with your parents about CEN than there was about talking with your spouse, but it could just be in how I listened to it.
