This recording is perfectly clear and uses only a minimum of sound effects, which help convey the action. The acting, especially in the roles of Juliet, Romeo, the Nurse, and Friar Laurance, is remarkably good. Perfect for study or entertainment.

I listened to this while reading the Arden version of the text and it was a perfect accompaniment to enrich my understanding of the play. Only a couple of words were different, which was to be expected. Excellent performances! I highly recommend it!

Terrible sound quality! This has been around in CD format for a while. Re-mastery sorely needed. The voices can hardly be heard through the din of the phoney sword play.
