I never believed in the whole “light at the end of the tunnel” folly where people, after having a near-death experience, would startle awake in a cold sweat exclaiming, “I saw the light!” But there I was, in this so-called “tunnel” facing a glaring light, when the last thing I remembered was sleeping in my room - the royal bed-chamber, as others called it. Had I died? If so, how? King Grey once benefited from unrivaled strength, wealth, and prestige in a world governed by martial ability but now finds himself reborn in a society dominated by magic.

Morgan used to be a pretty chill dude, until he got hit by a car, died, and then got sent to another world by a god-not-god. A world where the only way to survive was to level and grow strong enough to survive all the monsters that wanted to eat your face. If he was being completely honest with himself, Morgan quite liked this world, even with all the monsters and the lack of electricity. Sure, there were people that were technically gods, running around and interfering with his life, but who didn't have problems?

Who knew that getting a second chance for life on another world - after you died - could turn out to be the best thing that ever happened to you? Morgan has been living on this new world for quite some time. He has made friends, found love, been betrayed, formed a guild, fought off a goblin horde, and become an adventurer. His life is perhaps a bit strange now compared to what he had been used to on Earth, but hey, he has an energy sword now.

Publisher's Summary
Lord Kadorax Darkarrow was born on Earth, but in Agglor, he's the highest-level assassin anyone can find. The leader of the famed Blackened Blades, he's made a name for himself, built a kingdom of sorts, and only had to respawn once along the way.
Then a rogue band of jackals sends him all the way back to a dreary tavern in a tiny village to start over at level one.
Hellbent on revenge, Kadorax sets out on a path littered with bodies - level up, find the jackals, slay their god!

A fun diversion in an interesting MMO style world
Overall this was a quick and enjoyable story, this world has an interesting game system and the mechanics are satisfying but the leveling and power scope is less defined than I would like. We have no idea what a level 73, 45, or 10 means in the grand scheme when we don’t know the level cap or if it is an open ended leveling system. I found the characters to be difficult to connect to, the main character’s backstory is disappointingly left unexplored, and the sidekicks are not really developed beyond sidekicks. Since the nature of the game world is not clearly defined (is it a game, another planet, or a parallel dimension?) it makes it hard to understand if people like Brina are supposed to be scripted NPCs, players, or natives of another world. I believe the emotional detachment to death and how quickly people get over tragedy stems from the respawn feature of the world. Near the end of the book we do begin to explore more into these points but I feel it would be more helpful near the set-up. The plot is pretty simple the liner summary basically gives you everything you need, this isn’t really a bad thing as it actually conveys the experience you get in a single player RPG or even a MSQ focused MMO. My biggest complaint is simply that the book ends too soon and it doesn’t quite feel finished it’s unfortunately anticlimactic in that aspect Now, it seems like I have a lot of negative things to say but I really did enjoy it and got exactly what I expected from this novel and exactly what I expect from a litRPG; It is a solid entry in the genre and if you, like I do, enjoy a bit of video game inspired fiction and don’t really mind not over analyzing the writing then this is what you’re looking for. As for the narrator, it took some getting used to the man’s tone. It isn’t bad it’s just quite dissimilar to many of the narrators I listen to. I found his pacing and deliver steady and reasonably quick, my main complaint is that I felt some dialogue was lacking the emphasis that the description presented. A good example of this is when he says in a normal emphasis or volume” ‘we need to run’ She Yelled.” Those small annoyances aside I enjoyed the performance and felt it was adequate for the material. This is the author’s first entry in the series and I think there is a lot of room for growth and a lot of potential in this world and the characters, particularly in the main character’s mysterious new class. The author has left quite a few options open so I am interested in seeing what direction this takes. Disclosure: I was given this title in return for my review

A different spin on LitRPG
Respawn was a nice change up in the LitRPG genre. Many other books focus on why/how a character got pulled into the game world, and provide little, if any drawback to dying. Not in this world. Our main character has been in this world for 30 years, and death means starting from scratch with a new blank character sheet. Seeing how a once prolific, household named assassin picks up the pieces of his shattered life to start anew all the while pursuing a jackal menace was great. Looking forward to the next one!

Incredibly good!
Wow - this is an amazing LitRPG. I love the uniqueness to the story, but also the originality. One thing that exemplifies this is the Bastion of Chaos class. Not a barbarian or orc, by something original which leaves me guessing what’s next with the character.

A dull narration for an interesting story.
I found myself getting bored throughout the entirety of the novel. The narrator seemed to use the same voice for every character, save for Syzak. The narrator has a very professional voice, and seems like he would be better suited to reading the works of Shakespeare. I mean no offense to the narrator when I say this, in case that was in question. It wasn't the worst narration I've heard, as I had to refund a token from either the first or second [confusion on the prequel makes me uncertain] Meg novel, due to a truly bland reading. The narration here wasn't so much bland, as it was... lacking character. If I were able to read for long periods as I was before brain swelling, I would gladly pick up the written copy on Kindle. Fantastic story!! I should also add I was given a promo code to review the audiobook by Stuart Thaman. I hope my honesty on the narration is taken well.

An interesting LitRPG
This is quite well done as the MC dies early on and wants revenge so changes class and starts as a lowly Bastion of Chaos. The world building is pretty good although i have seen better. Stats dont turn up every few pages so it's not too annoying which i find can be a problem especially in Audio LitRPG. The MC and his supporters have good back stories and I found this an easy listen as the narration and overall flow of the story is quite in depth with well spaced out action scenes as they level up. The main opponents are random outside the main focus of our MC but it looks to have an intriguing outlook so im quite happy to look past this first book and see the potential for further adventures. This is the first i have seen of the author but i would go back for more as i would with the narrator who is also new to me but both work well together. I requested this audio and have left my thoughts on this for you to peruse.

good start of a series!
The book starts interestingly as the main character and his helper get killed off by a massive new threat to the world, and we get slowly introduced to the world on the journey from level 1 back to get revenge. The character tries to power through and though his new character class seems to be somewhat randomly chosen with no thought, it slowly starts to live up to the idea. Narration is great, well paced and with enough differences in the character voices to differentiate between the "cast". While there is some minor weak points in how the world is supposed to work, it flows well and has enough of a difference with other fantasy to keep it interesting. Looking forward to part 2!

Interesting mechanics and world-building
I'm not sure why, but the title of this series and to a lesser extent that of the book don't seem to be an ideal fit for the book, with killstreak in particular seeming particularly out of place in a fantasy context to me, but luckily this does not detract from an interesting listen. The respawn of the title happens as the high level avatar of the main character dies in the prologue and in this game (or world) this means that they will respawn as a new level one character without the gear and skills of their previous character, being able to choose the same class again or take the opportunity to play something different that time round and the main character goes for the second option, this time choosing a rare and potentially very powerful character, albeit one with some negatives that ensure this book doesn't fall into the trope of a main character accidentally breaking the game due to some fluke during character creation. Since Kadorax still has his memories of his previous life, he is driven through much of this book by his aim to level up again and avenge his previous death, which serves as a suitable way to introduce the listener to the mechanics and the world of this book, with one negative being the way that it is glossed over how somebody from earth even found themselves to be there in the first place, is it a virtual world or something else? The narrator's performance is a good one, dealing well with a varied cast and helping to nicely enhance the story in the process. Overall, this is a more than decent start to this series and I will interested to see how well the author progresses with it in any subsequent books. Not convinced.
I wasn't really taken by this book, the concept is good, being a high level assassin then being a level 1 noob. but the build up of the main character gaining levels again just didn't grab my full attention. I'm not completely giving up on this. I will try it again

Gripped!!
Perfect! Probably my favourite LitRPG so far! Really well written with a story that flows so well. An underlying mystery that’s drip fed occasionally and masses of hard fought action throughout with none of the ‘oh, I’ll use my massively overpowered spell/weapon to overcome anything in my path’! Probably my favourite setting for Scott’s narration so far; he perfectly pulls of the balance of the tempo of the story and is great with all the characters. I was so engrossed I felt myself take a breath when the ‘thank you for listening to...’ appeared at the end and had to desperately open book 2 (thank goodness I already had it downloaded!). This is my honest opinion of a free review copy.

Great fun, looking forward to the end of the story
I really enjoyed this novel. It's fast paced and the premise of the main character slowly losing his grip on reality is an intriguing part of the revenge quest driven narrative. I was disappointed to find there is no second book after the cliff hanger ending. This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Won't b getting the next one
The narrator was fine in this book but in my opinion the writing wasn't great. At some point the ending to books stops being a cliff hanger and starts just stopping mid chapter. I think the writer could have used more detail in the character progression stats to make it a true litrpg. I also think that the protagonist seems to have very little depth and has given up on earth way too easy. There is no desire to work out why he is in the game.

Not Bad
I don't know what say about this book, I am still a bit lost, the story is good, don't get me wrong, but unlike other LitRPG's there is no reason for the main character to be there, I'm not going to say, hero, because so far I haven't really seen anything heroic from him, in fact, he is a little dark, jaded and only out for what he can get out of others, which is fine, but I digress, when I say no reason to be there, what I mean is, nothing has been said by how he came to be in this new world, only that he has been there for about 30 years. But that said, the story is good, it isn't the best, but so far so good, the narrating is very good, so overall, I'd say, if you like LitRPG then get this. If you are new to LitRPG, then I would try something else first, this isn't the book to get you hooked on the genre.
