Story
When Van Tudor returns to his childhood home, he inherits more than the family farm. His grandfather used to tell him fantastic stories of spacemen and monsters, princesses and galactic knights. Little did Van realize, the old man's tales were more than fiction; they were real. Hidden beneath the old barn, Van’s legacy is waiting: a starship, not of this world. With his combat AI, an android bird named Perry, Van takes his first steps into the wider galaxy. He soon finds that space is far busier and more dangerous than he could have ever conceived.

Publisher's Summary
Renegade Star, Book One
Jace Hughes is a Renegade.
That means taking almost any job that comes his way, no matter the situation. So long as he can keep his ship floating, he's free to live the life he wants. But that all changes when he meets Abigail Pryar, a nun looking for safe passage out of the system. Too bad there's something off about the cargo she's carrying.
Jace knows he shouldn't ask too many questions, but when strange sounds start coming from inside the large, metal box, he can't help but check it out. Big mistake. To make matters worse, he's being pursued by unknown ships - people who want that cargo. Does Jace give up the goods and hand over the nun ...or does he risk it all for an even bigger payout?
Renegade Atlas, book Two
The search for Earth has begun.
After barely escaping the Union's grasp, The Renegade Star is off to parts unknown. Every member of its crew is a wanted fugitive. None of them can ever return home.
But all is not lost. Thanks to Lex, a strange girl with a remarkable gift, the path to Earth has been revealed. According to ancient myth, Earth holds valuable treasures, lost technology, and endless secrets, ripe for the taking. Jace and his new friends have a chance to discover it all, but only if they can keep Lex out of the Union's grasp.
Doing so won't be easy. With enemies on all sides, the deck is stacked against them, but nothing in this universe comes easy when you're a Renegade.
If you're a fan of Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, or Leviathan Wakes, you'll love this epic, space opera thriller.
Warning: This book contains action, cussing, and general badassery. Listen at your own risk.

Star Wars would like it’s tropes back
Not bad, but not great. I guess it’s kinda hard to write a space opera without ripping off some Star Wars. The fact there are 16 books so far is… I don’t know actually. Daunting?
Recommend: Space Team (Cal Carver series).

great story
great story and reading.
only thing that made it a little difficult was listening to book 0 first. This had a different narrator, so it was difficult to reconcile Abigail as being the same person in both stories.

Excellent book
Amazing book I love the characters audible can you please bring back separate sci-fi and fantasy separate categories
Specifically military sci-fi as one category would be excellent
Sci-fi and fantasy as one category is like putting gay porn and straight porn in one category

interesting blend of character little bit like Han Solo in a way!!
starts off pretty basic, but then your in space jumping between planets using special tunnels to get here ahd there always on the rum quite clever. narrator is great he really tries to change each character’s voice and occasionally you get lost realising it’s him doing all the characters
good visuals sometimes over explaining things but I enjoyed it bought the next publishers pack, which includes book 3 & 4 , here we go!
