The book is written for young adults. But there are so many issues with it.
The main character is just dumb. which isn’t a bad thing if the character is supposed to be that way but she not.
There are simple questions we still don’t know after 14 hours of listening. What was the change? How long has it been? It seems as though there is an entire society organised with a new president but has it been 1 year or 100 years we still don’t know. She has so many opportunities to ask this simple question, or any question at all but she never does. 🤷♂️ no curiosity about her loot. Nothing, just put these weird crystals away and not think about them ever oh until get more and just add these new ones and forget about them to.
And then there other issues. Does the Author even know that Vancouver Island is in Canada not the United States. Why would a president have any influence there? The MC knows her way around a boat how to change motors, refuel etc but doesn’t know about tides. If you run aground you can wait for the tide to get higher to remove the boat. Also Tsunamis don’t just raise the water level and you have a new shoreline, the tsunami wave goes back out to sea. If the shore line has risen then it would affect the entire coast not just you section of it.
And then there is a random pet thrown in without any explanation. It’s like the author thought - I know my target Audience are young girls and they like pets, so let’s put one in for no reason. No reference at all just one day here have a magical pet, with no relevance to the story whatsoever.
The MC is supposed to be OP but she gets captured all the time and so easily but then she defeats dungeons that others can’t. Don’t wait for any explanations to any of these things I’ll save you time, there isn’t one.
I expect a romantic interest, a rainbow unicorn and many more unanswered questions in the next book. Can’t wait.
