Story
Billy Connolly may be a citizen of the world, but in his heart he's never been far from his homeland. Made in Scotland is Billy's unique and intimate portrait of his native Scotland, a love letter to the places and people that made him. It's an adventure inspired by a single incident: the moment Billy received his Knighthood and was asked, 'How does it feel to have achieved all this when you came from nothing?' His response was, 'But I did come from something!'

Story
THE TWAT FILES are my stories of the times when I've been a total, utter twat. Time and time again, I've been a massive eejit. But the more I think about it, the more I understand that the moments where I've made mistakes, misunderstood stuff and messed up are key. That's where all my learning happens and where I laugh the most. Being a twat is universal and my twatishness is no different to yours. Except perhaps, that mine has been horrifyingly public on occasion.

But this is no joke. This is Arnold Schwarzenegger. And this did not happen by accident. Arnold's stratospheric success happened as part of a process. Could it be his berserker heritage? With wisdom, nostalgia and uniquely observed humour, Ade traces his journey through life and comedy.

This is the memoir music fans have been waiting for. Half of one of the greatest creative partnerships in popular music, Bernie Taupin is the man who wrote the lyrics for Elton John, who conceived the ideas that spawned countless hits, and sold millions and millions of records. Together, they were a duo, a unit, an immovable object. Their extraordinary, half-century-and-counting creative relationship has been chronicled in biopics and memoirs, but Taupin, a famously private person, has kept his own account of their adventures close to his chest, until now.

Publisher's Summary
The hilarious book from the nation's favourite comedian, Billy Connolly.
Being a Rambling Man was what I always wanted to be, to live the way I damn well pleased. I've met the weirdest and most wonderful people who walk the Earth, seen the most bizarre and the most fantastic sights - and I've rarely come across something I couldn't get a laugh at. I don't think I've ever had a bad trip. Well, apart from in the 1970s, but that's a whole other story...
When Billy set out from Glasgow as a young man he never looked back. He played his banjo on boats and trains, under trees, and on top of famous monuments. He danced naked in snow, wind and fire. He slept in bus stations, under bridges and on strangers' floors. He travelled by foot, bike, ship, plane, sleigh - even piggy-backed - to get to his next destination.
Billy has wandered to every corner of the earth and believes that being a Rambling Man is about more than just travelling - it's a state of mind. Rambling Men and Women are free spirits who live on their wits, are interested in people and endlessly curious about the world. They love to play music, make art or tell stories along the way but, above all, they have a longing in their heart for the open road.
In his joyful book, Billy explores this philosophy and how it has shaped him, and he shares hilarious new stories from his lifetime on the road. From riding his trike down America's famous Route 66, building an igloo on an iceberg in the Arctic, playing elephant polo (badly) in Nepal and crashing his motorbike (more than once), to eating witchetty grubs in Australia, being serenaded by a penguin in New Zealand, and swapping secrets in a traditional Sweat Lodge ritual in Canada, Rambling Man is a truly global adventure with the greatest possible travel companion.

Connolly's Epitaph
This is a decent listen, but not a patch on Billy's autobiography. It's a collection of anecdotes and seems like a cash-in on the success of his excellent autobiography. His voice is aged and there are few moments when Billy laughs, seems more that he is doing his best to read the lines as best he can.
In saying that, I still enjoyed it. There is little depth here, but it is an enjoyable listen and some of his stories are still very interesting and funny. The premise that he is a "rambling man" is largely pointless, as his career has been very well planned since the mid 1980s. He may consider himself a drifter, but he is more showbusiness than anyone.
Do I recommend it? Probably not. His autobiography is more than enough, but as this is probably his last book, if you are a fan definitely buy it.

Excellent
Amazing, I loved every second of it. Really gets going at chapter 8.
As a young boy, I grew up in Ireland. Grew up listening to the Big Yin with my father.
Great memories and great history. All with Mr Connolly's humor.
I thought about booking a trip to Florida, hanging around in the keys at various Cuban coffee shops, and hoping to meet one of my heroes.
Read the book, and you'll understand.
Big Yin, I've listened to you for 30 years and enjoyed the live shows, the TV shows, and the acting. You truly are one of a kind.

Another GEM from BIlly
Absolutely superb, If you love Billy Connolly as I do, you'll love it. Much different to his BIo as in talking about his deep desire to be a Rambling Man from a boy...a bit like Kane from Kung Fu...walking any path in life as a free man just taking in the sights, sounds, experiences and excited to meet people from all walks of life. A joyous attitude.
As always Billy commands your attention, engages with you from the off, walks you through his windswept and interesting life adding more than a few poignant moments and crack up laughing moments throughout.
I'd say his life was extraordinary myself. I never get bored listening to him, regulalry re watch many of his fantastic shows and will treasure his writing and books. God broke the mould when he made Billy...good job the world wouldn't cope with 2 of them.
Outstanding stuff, if you like his 'ways' and chat you won't be disappointed...highly recommended. #Legend. Olympus Gods of Comedy has a place for you and your banjo Bill.

A braw story
As a fellow Glaswegian and a Billy Connolly fan I remember I was in Smiths bookshop, St. Vincent street many moons ago buying a Sherlock homes cassette tape & Billy came up behind me & said “Great choice, I play these all the time when we are travelling in our camper van”. As if I were one of the boys. He is as genuine in real life as he is on this audio book, a great way to spend 8 hours.

The World is a Better Place with Billy In it
Another gem from a hero of mine. I'm far from a Rambling Man but I like to think I've the heart of one, life gets in the way I suppose. I don't know Billy but I've always been drawn to him. Since I was a pup he's had the ability to double me over in two with laughter. As a man I really appreciate the insight he's given me to his perspective on life. The world is a better place with Billy in it.

Raw meat from the balcony
I love listening to Billy he is genius, His timing and style are completely unique. He doesn’t tell jokes just reminiscences about his life and adventures in a way that will have you laughing all the way through. I’ve been a fan of his since I first discovered him on Raw meat from the balcony in 1981 on cassette ( I was 14 and he didn’t swear on his shows back then) I listened to it endlessly in my bedroom and I’ve been laughing with him ever since I just wish he’d narrated all of his books that are available on audible.

Thank you
I've come over all daft and my eyes are brimming with tears. Thank you for being in our world and gifting us with your stories. I first watched Billy Connolly on a VHS tape when I was 10 years old round a friend's house. I thought he was wonderful and 26 years later I'm still laughing, and crying apparently.

Superb. As always.
Utter comedy genius. Makes me cry with laughter and listening to him whilst on the train had me laughing like a mad woman… handy for getting a seat to yourself. Love the bones of the man.

Fellow Glaswegian
Wonderful to hear oor Billy’s voice describing his many adventures. He is part of Glasgow’s soul and I love him as does my 22 year old daughter who has grown up watching him.

Always a pleasure
Also great to hear the funniest and best story teller ever. (Very proud to be Scottish 😁)

Uncle Jim was a Rambling Man with a heart of Gold
My Uncle Jim was a Rambling Man, Had a lot of trauma during WWII, always outside the family unspoken rules. He was a man of adventure and travelled much. He told me early not to let my controlling family to tell me what to do with my life, it was my gift and up to me how to spend it. When my immediate family decided not to show up for our wedding, on religious grounds (us both atheist), he and a few aunts were by our side. Thank you Billy for confirming freedom is everything. (Sorry for the nick on stars, a bit too course at times.)
