About this listen
Eighteen years ago the Starship Enterprise thwarted an alien invasion from another universe, and Captain Robert April took possession of the interdimensional transfer device that made it possible. Since then each captain of the Enterprise, from Christopher Pike to James T. Kirk, has guarded this secret with his life.
Now Romulan agents have succeeded in stealing the device and are using it to banish Ambassador Sarek and Councillor Gorkon to an unknown realm in the midst of their groundbreaking Federation-Klingon peace negotiations. With time running out as interstellar war looms in one universe - and alien forces marshal in another - will Captain Kirk and his crew preserve the tenuous peace and reclaim the key between the dimensions?

In order to flesh this story out a lot of stuff is going on in both universes but I really think the concept was rich enough to have focused more in the new universe and I suppose that it what I was hoping for.
There was a massive portion of this that felt like deja vu for me but I'm sure I hadn't read it previously. It was a lot of the stuff with Sarek. Actually I noticed early in this book that it was rather a convenient writing decision to have the Organian Peace Talks coincide with these events in order to have a top diplomat whisked away and right into a position where he could influence events with the two new races, but really that's not how Sarek was used in this story at all.
I really enjoyed the series and thought that Petkoff did an outstanding job.
