Publisher's Summary

The fourth instalment in a gripping and atmospheric crime series set on a small island where there is no escape....

An island on lockdown. A killer on the loose....

As the scorching summer sun covers the small Scilly island of St Mary’s, DI Ben Kitto and his team are training for the annual Swimathon. But their morning session comes to a climactic end when they discover a body hanging from Pulpit Rock. The victim has been dressed up in a bridal gown, and Ben quickly realises that a dark and sinister killer is at large on the island.

To prevent the killer from escaping, Ben has no choice but to lock down St Mary’s, yet in doing so he is unwillingly trapping the killer’s next victim. When another woman is attacked, Ben gathers the island’s at-risk residents inside the local hotel for safety, but the killer is already watching and remains one step ahead.

Everyone is a suspect. No one is safe.

Not too bad

I got a bit confused with the names but it was still enjoyable. Good story. I have a great desire to live on that island. Sounds so beautiful.

Hit and miss policework

I don't understand the theory of 'lets arrest this person even though we have no evidence against him, then we can browbeat him and find out if he is guilty!'
It was all about guess work, nothing else, until the guilty party was actually caught in the act!

No more for me by this author!

Not very challenging but an enjoyable listen

I enjoy listening to the descriptions of the Scilly Isles in this series of books and it has made me want to visit them.

I like the way that I can't guess whodunit until right at the end.

The narration is good although in this book 2 sentences were duplicated which was annoying.

Familar but enjoyable

A lockdown, a race to rescue a girl before she suffers a grisly fate? Familar? Yes! We must be back on the Scilly Isles with Ben Kitto! Book 4 in this enjoyable undemanding series. The well defined characters, close knit community and the Cornish coast are as ever the real stars of the story. Half the ending I found a bit meh and it is a bit formulaic but you'll enjoy it if you like the others. Narrator very well chosen and credible, does what the best narrators do transports you there and seems to add to the story not detract!

Another great story and narration.

The narrator is excellent, he could be DI Kitto. The only downside was the injury to Shadow, so pleased he survived. The inclusion of Shadow brings an element missing in other stories, a great addition. When is the next one?

Kate Rhodes 👌🏼

I really enjoy this series, I do hope there is another. I feel like it’s a familiar place and I can see it in my minds eye. Recommend
