I read no review mentioning the glitches; missing sound bites of 25 sec.s or so, I experienced in the latter chapters. So that must've a download glitch? (Not the first in this series) My 3 star Performance rating reflects this alone. I give the narration a 4 also.

The story is compelling and moves along well enough, with plenty of necessary alchemic and magical theory to satisfy the nerdily blessed. Jake is as likeable as his enemies are despicable, which makes for a bit of justifiably murderous listener satisfaction.

I feel the narrator, whose fervour holds the listener's ears with his vitality, occasionally misses the intent of a line or two, where a differently stressed inflection was the intent of the writer. A small criticism not to detract from what is a notable performance by Mr. Baldree, as usual.

Honestly this book was amazing. Was a solid progression from the previous book and had some solid world building. The only thing I regret is not having the next book immediately! Can’t wait for book 5. Love Silfy and the interactions between jake and the malefic viper. Keep it up. Would love to see (hear) jake loose a fight. I think that a comeback story could add to the storyline maybe in the future.
