Exceptional story and performance.

I am new to this genre but am so glad to have found it.

If you enjoyed Mortal Engines, this one is just as good.

Not at all childish!

Published as a children's book but at 62 I found it a very satisfying and engaging tale.
Well written and equally well performed in this audio version.
Better than the sloppy writing and editing of many, so called, adult offerings.

the middle was disappointing

the beginning was good, the ending was good, the middle was insufferable. I only finished it because the first book was Mortal engines. Without giving too much away, I struggled through that cliche big misunderstanding Trope where all the characters have an unneeded conflict and then have to go and mope and do things that are completely out of their character. if you can get through that, it's almost worth it for the end.

Somewhat boring and anticlimactic

This feels very much like a filter book: There's no real protagonist or conflict and as a result the story is somewhat boring. It only really serves as a prequel to book three, which takes place years later. You could almost read book one, then a synopsis of book two, then skip right to three.

Exciting adventure

Even better and more exciting than the first one!! This only makes me more excited to listen to the 3rd and 4th books, although will be surprised if they beat this book.

Traction cities move on!

I read the book with my son a few years ago . Revisiting it through Audible has been great fun, and Barnaby Edwards’ narration is first rate. The characterisations are first rate, the plot draws you in, and I was completely emersed in the world of traction cities. Can’t wait to get started on ‘Infernal Devices’

Nice follow up to book 1

Good read, Love how Hetty's character develops. Couple of good plot twists too. Couple of giggles at the names of towns or people.
