Man hat ihn zum Tode verurteilt, der Tag seiner Hinrichtung ist gekommen. Ein letztes Mal versammeln sich Freunde und Schüler bei ihm im Gefängnis. Aber warum hat Sokrates keine Angst vor dem Tod? Ist unsere Seele unsterblich? Eine geheimnisvolle Stimmung zwischen Weinen und Lachen öffnet die Anwesenden für die letzten Fragen des Lebens, und eine existentielle Suche nach Antworten kann beginnen. Die vorliegende Aufnahme beruht auf der klassisch gewordenen Inszenierung der Schaubühne Berlin, in der Wolf Redl den Sokrates und Jochen Tovote seine Gefährten darstellen.
