Spice Up Your Life!

Publisher's Summary
PARIS: A MILLION MEANINGS IN A SINGLE NAME
Heiress. Party girl. Problem child. Selfie taker. Model. Reality star. Self-created.
The labels attached to Paris Hilton.
Founder. Entrepreneur. Pop Culture Maker. Innovator. Survivor. Activist. Daughter. Sister. Wife. Mother.
The roles Paris embraces as a fully realized woman.
Paris rose to prominence as an heiress to the Hilton hotel empire but cultivated her fame and fortune as the IT Girl of the aughts, a time marked by the burgeoning 24-hour entertainment news cycle and the advent of the celebrity blog. Using her celebrity brand, Paris set in motion her innovative business ventures, while being the constant target of tabloid culture that dismissively wrote her off as “famous for being famous.” With tenacity, sharp business acumen and grit, she built a global empire and, in the process, became a truly modern icon beloved around the world.
Now, with courage, honesty, and humour, Paris Hilton is ready to take stock, place it all in context and share her story with the world. Separating the creation from the creator, the brand from the ambassador, Paris: The Memoir strips away all we thought we knew about a celebrity icon, taking us back to a privileged childhood lived through the lens of undiagnosed ADHD, a teenage rebellion that triggered a panicked – and perilous – decision by her parents. Led to believe they were saving their child’s life, Paris’s mother and father had her kidnapped and saw her sent to a series of ‘emotional growth boarding schools’, where she survived almost two years of verbal, physical and sexual abuse. In the midst of a hell we now call the ‘troubled teen industry’, Paris created a beautiful inner world where the ugliness couldn’t touch her. She came out, resolving to trust no-one but herself as she transformed that fantasy world into a multibillion-dollar reality.
Recounting her perilous journey through pre-#MeToo sexual politics with grace, dignity and just the right amount of sass. Paris: The Memoir tracks the evolution of celebrity culture through the story of the figure at its leading edge, full of defining moments and marquee names. Most important, Paris shows us her path to peace while she challenges us to question our role in her story and in our own.
Welcome to Paris.

Lessons from life in the fast lane.
Paris grew up differently from most. Privileged, pretty, personable, and something of a handful, ADHD, an adventurous and rebellious nature, untapped intelligence and gregariousness, along with some personal insecurities made her life’s journey one well worth writing a book about. I’ve listened to it 3 times and abandoned any blonde stereotypes to respect her as a kind, savvy woman. Past situations in her later teens were quite scary and she showed great mental strength and ingenuity to get through those times. I’m glad she has a new path these days with an understanding and loving husband, a beautiful son and businesses to run. Thank you for sharing so much of yourself Paris.

The performance is engaging and her story is incredible. Being the same age and having her time stamp situations throughout her memoir, really had me reflecting on where I was at the time and feeling so much compassion for her and what she endured. Every bit of her success is a true testament to her strength and resilience. Love her even more now!

SHAME
I feel shame that I lived my life while others were suffering. I have been through my own abuse but there is no measure on any different peoples trauma. this is a prime example that abuse happens in any walk of life. The bravery of Paris telling her story is remarkable, it will stay with me and I'll happily carry the learnings. I wish I could stand beside her and tell her what a difference she is making, I wish I could hug her and take some of those nightmares. no matter how much money people make or how much they don't have, these things contribute nothing towards healing from trauma. Paris, thank you.

I enjoyed listening to Paris’ story. Her candid details of her life and the abuse she suffered were captivating, enthralling and well articulated.

Brave and Important
It must have taken a lot of courage to write down what make up some of the worst chapters of her life, and yet she does so with objectivity and honesty. Her narration is great and makes for a more authentic biography. It’s a stark reminder that we mostly believe what we are told to by the media, and that things and people are usually not at all what they seem. And far more multifaceted.

Not for me
To me it reads like a typical life of a spoiled rich girl. There are some details of things she had to go through as a teen but there’s little of substance to me.
A lot of things seemed far removed from objective reality. She speaks of her reality tv show as if it was almost revolutionary - it has an IMDb score of 4.1. Didn’t fact check other things but it’s like listening to someone who thinks they are super smart and talented, but in reality everything they achieved is because of their family/background/wealth.
Got this because of reviews, but it really makes me think those are not genuine. Or maybe I’m just really not the target audience.
Much of the book is also written using vocabulary of a party girl, so it was really an effort to get to the end.

Fantastic!
I thought I knew about Paris Hilton, I knew nothing except the tabloid headlines. Paris tells her story brilliantly, leaving you captivated and entertained while also feeling a huge amount of anger and upset about what went on in her teens.
You won’t regret listening to this memoir - although it seems as though the audio editor forgot to listen to the last hour or so, I thought my phone was glitching at the amount of repeated words and sentences that weren’t cut out! But don’t let that put you off. Superb!

Yaasss Queen!
What an unexpected honest treat… laughing and crying all the way. I can’t believe the sunshine you exude after being treated like s&*t. I also love the secret and use it in my life… it’s why I started ‘Light and Love at Home’ my wee candle business! Keep sliving the house down Paris xoxo

Honest, frank, surprising, authentic and insightful. Bought as a travel companion and greatly enjoyed. I recommend.

Surprisingly good
Really engaging and heart felt story. I haven’t any idea about who Paris really was or what she’d been through. While new level of respect
