The world's greatest bodybuilder. The world's highest paid movie star. The leader of the world's sixth largest economy. That these are the same person sounds like the setup to a joke. But this is no joke. This is Arnold Schwarzenegger. And this did not happen by accident. Arnold's stratospheric success happened as part of a process. As the result of clear vision, big thinking, hard work, direct communication, resilient problem-solving, open-minded curiosity, and a commitment to giving back. All of it guided by the one lesson Arnold's father hammered into him above all: be useful.

Story
For decades, the medical community has looked to a variety of reasons for why we age, and the consensus is that no-one dies of old age; they die of age-related diseases. That's because ageing is not a disease - it is inevitable. But what if everything you think you know about ageing is wrong? What if ageing is a disease? And that disease is curable. In Lifespan, Dr David Sinclair, one of the world’s foremost authorities on genetics and ageing, argues just that.

Now, Dr Lyon offers an easy-to-follow food, fitness, and self-care program anchored in evidence and pioneering research that teaches you how to optimize muscle - no matter your age or health background.

Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don’t make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

Story
Are we hardwired to crave more? From food and stuff to information and influence, why can't we ever get enough? Michael Easter, author of The Comfort Crisis and one of the world's leading experts on behaviour change, shows that the problem isn't you. The problem is your scarcity mindset, left over from our ancient ancestors. They had to constantly seek and consume to survive because vital survival tools like food, material goods, information, and power were scarce. But with our modern ability to easily fulfil our ancient desire for more, our hardwired "scarcity brain" is now backfiring.

Story
Sleep is one of the most important aspects of our life, health and longevity and yet it is increasingly neglected in 21st century society, with devastating consequences: every major disease in the developed world - Alzheimer's, cancer, obesity, diabetes - has very strong causal links to deficient sleep. Until very recently, science had no answer to the question of why we sleep, or what good it served, or why its absence is so damaging to our health. Compared to the other basic drives in life - eating, drinking and reproducing - the purpose of sleep remained elusive.

Story
When planning for the future we often ask, “What will the economy be doing this time next year?” Or, “What will be different ten years from now?” But forecasting is hard. The important events that will shape the future are inherently unpredictable. Instead, we should be asking a different question: What will be the same ten years from now? What will be the same one hundred years from now? Knowledge of the things that never change is more useful, and more important, than an uncertain prediction of an unknowable future.

Publisher's Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
This is the ultimate manual for living better and longer.
For all its successes, mainstream medicine has failed to make much progress against the diseases of ageing that kill most people: heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer's disease, and type 2 diabetes. Too often, it intervenes with treatments too late, prolonging lifespan at the expense of quality of life. Dr Peter Attia, the world's top longevity expert who is featured on Chris Hemsworth's National Geographic documentary Limitless, believes we must replace this outdated framework with a personalised, proactive strategy for longevity.
This isn't 'biohacking,' it's science: a well-founded strategic approach to extending lifespan while improving our physical, cognitive and emotional health, making each decade better than the one before. With Outlive's practical advice and roadmap, you can plot a different path for your life, one that lets you outlive your genes to make each decade better than the one before.

Fascinating, accessible, applicable and well paced
This book is a fascinating and accessible listen. Peter excels at explaining complex ideas and systems simply; and his voice is an easy listen. The subject matter is well ordered and paced.
I'm loving every moment, and am very glad Peter decided to read the book himself. It also made my zone 2 cardio training (normally tedious and my nemesis) actually enjoyable.

Actionable, informative and overall amazing book.
This is hands down one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. I’ve waited for it for years and being a listener to Attia’s podcast I had sky high expectations. I was not disappointed, if anything the book is better than I hoped and much more actionable than I thought it would be. 100% recommend!

Tough Listen
I wanted to enjoy this book. But it was so long and drawn out in parts that you would often switch off. Despite this long listen, I don’t think I picked up anything new. This is a shame as it started out ok and interesting then slowly got very dull. The reader was easy to listen to so this shows the content was really not portrayed in an effective way. Moments of interesting content was soon over powered by long boring tales. I brought this book based on previous reviews so thought I would do one to get some balance in here. Save yourself a credit and many many hours and do the following according to this book “exercise more, get more quality sleep, eat less but most of all…prevention is better than cure” you’re welcome

Grateful for the book
It’s a must listen for everyone who want to take control of their health and improve quality of their life. Easy to listen but not superficial, finally a book on health which gives workable solutions, accessible to everyone and does not promote any products.
The structure of the book and great reading make it feel like a story.
Full of insights, I bought a hard copy so I can come back to different chapters as I’m starting to implement my new knowledge.

Amazing
Dr Attia takes a step back and comes up with an overaching health strategy (shifting from medicine 2.0 to medicine 3.0) rather than just get us lost in the weeds like so many other health books. It's refreshing that he deliberately avoids getting drawn into the diet wars but just presents the facts on controversial topics like this and let's us make up our own mind.

Recommended for Everyone
As a long time listener to Peter's podcast, this books help to link those scattered pieces together and provided a holistic picture/framework which is instrumental for planning your own life/health.
Don't be misguided by the title - it does not only apply to those wish to outlive per se (this is not a goal for me for example), but to those who wanted to have a good life. Regardless of what your goal/dream is, a healthy body is fundamental to almost everything., and this books tells you how to be responsbile for yourself to build one.
I am revisiting some chapters after I finished the whole book, and I still keep listening to his podcast which brings in new perspectives and ideas - as Peter himself mentioned, there are things that changed often. For those things that change less often, you will mostly likely find some being touched by this book.
Again, recommended for everyone.

A timely book on a very topical subject.
I tip my academic hat to Peter Attia, whom I have enormous respect for in the field of longevity . Honest, sincere, and comprehensive without confusing the reader. He will resonate with many readers. Real-world advice, with realistic expectations, Peter Attia is evidence based with the willingness to change protocol when new evidence becomes available . Thank you for this book, which I could not put down . Thank you for your last chapter on mental health and emotional well-being, which gives the reader a perspective on the purpose of pursuing a long, healthy life.

I have listened to Peter Attia (Pattia as my husband calls him) since he launched The Drive. This book is a thorough but accessible assimilation of his ideas and passion. Anyone who is even vaguely interested in living better for longer should listen to this book. Listen rather than read as Peter has succeeded in delivering his content perfectly.

Life Changing for me emotionally
Being a fanatic reader of Stoic and other self-help esc books, I always thought my desire for consistent improvement and discipline was a positive. The final chapters of this book proved otherwise. These chapters revealed to me the root cause behind my destructive urge to 'always be better'. You might think you have control over your emotions and are 'mentally strong', but I promise you, your emotional health is hurting you more than you think. The rest of this book is already brilliant and life changing for some, but if your already semi-healthy like me and reading this book looking for small hacks and adjustments in the pursuit to "be great" as Dr Attia mentions in the book, then you will be met with a wake up call in the emotional health department.
