Publisher's Summary

Three generations of women in the Ferrari family must heal the broken pieces of their lives on a trip of a lifetime through picturesque Italy from New York Times best-selling author Jennifer Probst.

Workaholic, career-obsessed Francesca is fiercely independent and successful in all areas of life except one: family. She struggles to make time for her relationship with her teenage daughter, Allegra, and the two have become practically strangers to each other. When Allegra hangs out with a new crowd and is arrested for drug possession, Francesca gives in to her mother's wish that they take one epic summer vacation to trace their family roots in Italy. She just never expected to face a choice that might change the course of her life....

Allegra wants to make her grandmother happy, but she hates the idea of forced time with her mother and vows to fight every step of the ridiculous tour, until a young man on the verge of priesthood begins to show her the power of acceptance, healing, and the heartbreaking complications of love.

Sophia knows her girls are in trouble. A summer filled with the possibility for change is what they all desperately need. Among the ruins of ancient Rome, the small churches of Assisi, and the rolling hills of Tuscany, Sophia hopes to show her girls that the bonds of family are everything and to remind them that they can always lean on one another, before it's too late.

Get ready for the perfect trip!

I’m not one that writes many reviews but I had to take a minute to write this one.
The Italian Summer will take you from the highs of a teenage girl trying to find herself to an absentee mother who thinks she doing the best she can. Then the grandmother who sees the problems with her girls and knows it need to be fixed. Toss in first time love for both mother and daughter along with the grandmother who gets the trip she always wanted and you have the best story ever.

Somewhat slow . . .

This listen was a magnificent tour of Italy--but I've never been to Italy, so it was lost on me. I never had a burning desire to finish the book . . . could pick it up and put it down effortlessly.

Family story!

I am in a Book Club & one night we decided we wanted to rea d a humorous book. This came up on an internet list of funny books. I don’t know why because it is a family based story of three women who are struggling with each other and life decisions. The book has a few funny incidents on the tour in Italy, but is really about the Grandmother, Mother, and Daughter coming together once again. It is an okay read, but light in terms of content.

Worth every minute

This book was exactly what I needed in order to open up my heart and mind to exactly what the author hoped for- forgiveness, second chances, hope, adventure, and priorities. It’s an amazing reminder that it’s never too late to turn things around. This story is so thoughtfully written and incredibly heartfelt and raw. I recommend it to all women

Bailed out

Got to chapter 11 and just couldn’t listen any more.
Storyline was very flaky and boring, this has been done really well by other authors.
The voices though were awful. Thin and scratchy. Then they got to Italy and the Italian accents were just too much. I couldn’t take anymore.
