Publisher's Summary

Conflicts will be decided with fisticuffs, card games will be played for the highest of stakes, and swords will be flashed in this rollicking Dungeons & Dragons adventure from New York Times best-selling author R. A. Salvatore.

Maintaining stability in a city full of pirates is a delicate balancing act, particularly when one is motivated by making sure the common folk are taken care of instead of simple personal greed. Jarlaxle and his band of rogues known as Bregan D'aerthe are doing their best, stabilizing the city after warding off a terrible attack by demonic and gnoll forces.

But now three merchant ships have been destroyed and sent to the ocean floor - obliterated in such a quick and brutal manner that it makes little sense it’s pirates seeking plunder. Something is out there on or under the cold dark waters of the Sword Coast, and it threatens the trade Jarlaxle will need to bring prosperity to Luskan.

Fortunately, Jarlaxle has powerful and clever allies he can call upon to help him solve the riddle. But will they do it in time? And even if it's solved, can the perpetrator be defeated?

classic Salvatore.

This was fun. Felt like a little DnD side quest with the characters we all love. Gambling dens, Pirates, Jarlaxle, familiar faces... loved it.

Boring

Book takes place in a well thought up fictional reality that checks all the “interesting” boxes, but the story line and writing is unbelievably boring!! It feels like the action writing of John Carter of Mars from 70 yrs ago.

Amazing!

I loved every part of this. Particularly that certain beloved characters get to shine when they haven't been in the limelight as much as others have in the past.

Latest Novella in the Gripping Chronicle is Well Focused

Bob Salvatore has written another great short story with suspense, action, and intrigue following the events of Timeless, Boundless, Relentless that doesn’t say much to spoil the main events of those books besides a couple of asides. I wasn’t aware this was coming out until I saw it in the audible exclusives library, so I’ve got to say I’m a little confused as to the strategy of that but nevertheless.

Victor Bevine does a good job on the whole, you can hear a few re-take splices in a couple spots.

And the point is...?

Plotless waste of time. I guess it’s free for a reason. Dull and without any direction.

Short but sweet!

Another great story from R. A. Salvatore! I’ll take as many as I can get! Victor Bevine does a great justice to the characters with his voice! I loved it!

Great mini story, hope it's printed

Great to get another fix of these characters, especially Jarlaxle. Already looking forward to the next.
A huge pity the narration was so bad with poor voices and incorrect accents etc
