Single-handed and self-isolated, retired journalist John Passmore used the pandemic to achieve an ambition that had eluded him for 60 years. Both the book and the narrator I enjoyed immensely. John can tell a great story and the fact that he thinks differently from herd is very appealing. The fact that he was in his late 60s and went offshore is life affirming.

Maybe it is too close to home but I really enjoyed John's account of fulfilling his lifelong dream of ocean voyaging. It is easy to live vicariously through his adventure but it gave me a real jolt to get out there and experience it myself bar the capsizing.
