Im Jahr 2435: Nachdem mehrere terranische Schiffe spurlos in den Magellanschen Wolken verschwunden sind, sammelt Perry Rhodan eine starke Raumflotte im Sektor Morgenrot. Womit er allerdings nicht rechnet: Ganz in der Nähe operiert Roi Danton, der König der Kosmischen Freihändler, mit seinem Raumschiff FRANCIS DRAKE. Der Freihändler tritt gern in der Maskerade eines französischen Königs des 18. Jahrhunderts auf und provoziert mit seinem Äußeren. Sein Schiff ist allerdings - und das verwundert Rhodan - so gut bewaffnet wie die modernsten Schiffe des Solaren Imperiums.

Es kommt zum Konflikt zwischen Terranern und Freihändlern, der anfangs mit Paralysatoren ausgetragen wird. Doch dann taucht ein gewaltiges Objekt auf, eine fliegende Raumstation, die mehr als 15.000 Ultraschlachtschiffe mit sich führt. Angesichts des Konfliktes ziehen die uralten Steuergehirne des Giganten die falschen Schlüsse und wenden sich gegen das Solare Imperium. OLD MAN, wie das riesige Gebilde genannt wird, entwickelt sich aufgrund eines Missverständnisses zur tödlichen Bedrohung für die von Terranern besiedelten Welten. Als dann auch noch die Kristallagenten den Raumer übernehmen, steigert sich die Gefahr ins Ungeheuerliche.

Die Story macht Spass und ist interessant. Klassisch Perry Rhodan. Hervorragend gelesen und produziert. Wesentlich besser als die neisten Englischen audio books, die ich hier bei Amazon gehört habe.
