About this listen

Aliens exist, the government knows, and Dan McCarthy just found the proof. When Dan McCarthy stumbles upon a folder containing evidence of the conspiracy to end all conspiracies - a top-level alien cover-up - he leaks the files without a second thought. The incredible truth revealed by Dan's leak immediately captures the public's imagination, but Dan's relentless commitment to exposing the cover-up and forcing disclosure quickly earns him some enemies in high places. For his whole life, Dan McCarthy has searched for a reason to believe. Now that he finally has one, he might soon wish he didn't.... Not Alone is a stand-alone tale of contact and disclosure for the 21st century.

90% of the book is just news politics and drama. Please don't waste your time.

I have wasted my time on this

I must say i really enjoyed this book, the narrator was great and articulated the characters well amd was easy to listen too. I like a good conspiracy and loved how this unfolded. it moved along well and kept me engrossed the whole time. There was a wicked plot twist around 3/4 of the way through that i didn't see coming. Alll in all well worth the money.

A great listen

A few twists and turns in this book. Excellent narration by James Patrick Cronin. An enjoyable read with a different slant on aliens and their invasion of earth.

Interesting.

A good listen. Though has a couple of flat spots in the middle, the overall story is good. It is a extra-terrestrial contact story that is not cheesy nor an apocalyptic slaughter-house, which makes it a step above the majority. I have just started "Not Alone: Second Contact" and am looking forward to seeing how that pans out. The narrator is not bad at all, though having just started the sequel, "Not Alone: Second Contact," I did have to hold my nose when the Narrator didn't know the difference between Australia and Austria. His performance of the multiple characters in Not Alone was done pretty well.

A good listen, a bit long, well performed

i found it overwhelmingly contrived and incredibly unrealistic. filled with a weird hero projection from the author. i spent most of the book cringing or eyerolling. This is a book meant for 13 year olds with zero political nous as plenty of politicians feature in it and they are some of the worst constructed characters created. The main characters were also shallow but updated 21st century stereotypes of nerd, jock and damsel. The bad guys are cartoonishly bad and 2 dimensional. There was no twist or turn i found particularly imaginative, indeed i was suprised how uninventive the author was considering the alien context.

sci fi for 14 and below

Convoluted, nonsensical a rambling word salad filled with nouns, verbs and adjectives. A steady drone for sufferers of tinnitus. Wake feeling refreshed no memory of what you heard and caring even less.

Great! For insomniacs only.
