Calling all Supervisors!

If you are looking for practical and actionable lessons to improve your networking skills, Networking for Introverts is the book for you! I am an extrovert, and I learned a lot from this book too. It really helped me appreciate introverts more. Daisy Myers, the author, talks quite a bit about the advantages of being an introvert. My husband is an introvert, and I wish that I had read this book years ago. I have a renewed appreciation for him now. Calling all bosses! If you have an introvert on your team, not only should you recommend this book to them, but you should read it too. It will open your eyes to the strengths that introverts possess. I dare say that you will get several ideas to use their talents in the workplace. One of my favorite sections of this book gives readers a list of mantras to boost self-confidence. Any recent high school or college graduate will benefit from using these. Networking isn't a skill that most people are born with. We all have to learn it to be successful in the career world. The narrator, Sarah Knapp, does a fantastic job. She uses all of the voice actor "tricks of the trade" to keep your interest. I did notice four small production errors (repeated phrases). I can honestly say that they did not detract from the book at all. If you want to take your networking game to the next level, I highly recommend this book. This is a book you will want to have in your library and refer to in the future. To get the most out of the book, I would recommend that you purchase the eBook along with the audiobook. That way, you can take notes in the eBook as you read. Because there is so much actionable information in this book, I would also recommend that you listen for 30 minutes each day and take the time to digest each day's material fully. Pick one thing to practice each day. By the time you finish the book, you will have a new tool kit of ideas to improve your networking skills. a very practical book

I picked this on up on audible to see what tips it could have for people like me, that don't really enjoy been in groups that much. I find it very enlightening actually, and did took my pointers for future references, it's a very light book actually and it very practical I love that. If you struggle with not being comfortable in a group or at social events and want some pointers on how to recharge later on this it's the book you need.

Good guidance for introverts

As an introvert but not entirely anti-social, this book hits home to me. The book opens up an insight the type of introvert I am. I can relate to many what the book says about my introversion. By knowing exactly the type of introversion, the book then guides me how I can avoid smalls talks & go straight in engaging meaningful conversation during social gatherings. Networking for a job to me is a daunting task. Thinking about being awkward in a networking event or even sending an invite to a stranger from LinkedIn makes me frown. The author has a point. By planning ahead, setting a small goal to meet one or only few people makes the daunting idea of showing up in a networking event manageable. Overall, I think the book gives me a new & helpful perspective of social engagement being an introvert.

Packed with information

I am an introvert. I always feel uncomfortable in social situations and public speaking. I find this audiobook very helpful in navigating social activities, including networking, that are necessary in life. It gives many tips and pointers for different aspects of networking, such as starting a conversation with a small talk (but to quickly move beyond small talk), joining a conversation in a group, changing your mindset to overcome the introvert tendencies, etc. The author points out the strengths of an introvert, which is encouraging to me. Some of the points are common sense, but can be reassuring that my thinking had been right all along. The book is not very long and can be listened to in one sitting. However, since there is a lot of information, it would be helpful to take notes along the way. The narrator has a pleasant voice and speaks clearly, with a confident and encouraging tone. I think this book can help introverts improve their social skills.

not worth the time

The narrator struggled gamely with text that was shallow, uninformative and impractical. I couldn't get past chapter 2

Straight to the point and effective advice

I am pleasantly surprised by this book. Both the narration and content is very good. One thing I greatly appreciate is that, unlike other self-help books that repeat obvious good sounding maxims over and over, this book gets to the point very quickly. It does not waste your time. The advice is straightforward and relevant. I wish I had found this book 10 years ago. I am at a point in my career where networking is the most important thing, and I am horrible at it. This book is very helpful. I thoroughly recommend it.

I really liked the book!

The part about precharging yourself before and event was meaningful. I'll have to try that before meetings and phone calls.

Too many actionable tips! Love that

It’s a book that I will definitely re-listen to! Mainly for the second part of the book that contained A LOT of actionable tips. I was actually happy when I realized that the e-book is included as well; that way I can highlight the actionable steps instead of re-writing them. My first “aha” moments are in chapter 2. I know I’m an introvert so I have resonated to a lot of it; but some points made me dig deeper about my personality (e.g: I wonder if this is the reason why I acted this way during “that” event). I personally know someone who is charismatic, and I have noticed how positively he makes people feel after the interaction and leaves a good impression. While listening to the book, there were times when I have said “he does that”; as if I now have a glimpse of the “behind the scenes “of what the person is doing.

An excellent guide to networking for Introverts.

In the interests of honesty, I received a review code for this book. I am with little doubt an introvert who grew up and worked my way through industries that didn't understand them and certainly didn't value them apart from when an answer was needed that was buried in regulations or a computer was broken. I wish I had books like this twenty years ago, both in that they would have helped validate how I was feeling and in helping nudge me towards better networking skills which were sorely lacking for most of my career. Alongside Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking, I find this book an excellent guide to help to pick apart some of the complexities of navigating your way through a world of extroverted managers, to learn to interface with them enough to not get lost in the din and to give yourself the confidence to realise that just because your idea is not shouted the loudest doesn't mean it isn't the best. The narrator is clear, enthusiastic and easy to listen to. The book is concise which for me is a major plus point, I hate wading through hours and hours of fluff when a book which makes its point in five hours feels it has to stretch it over twenty hours. While not meant as criticism rather as a suggestion, having some supporting documents, written summaries or exercises can help with these sorts of things particularly as people are not often sitting with an audiobook playing and then writing notes at the same time. I hope you guys find the book as interesting as I did.
