Publisher's Summary

From renowned master of lovecraft-style horror Brian Lumley, comes Necrosope II: Vamphyri!, the second audiobook in the Necroscope® series.

Not the end of life, Harry Keogh discovered - and not the end of his battle against the terrible evil of vampires. In a secluded English village, Yulian Bodescu plots his takeover of the world. Imbued with a vampire's powers before his birth, Bodescu rules men's minds and bodies with supernatural ease. He is secretly creating an army of vampiric monsters, things that once were men but were now walking masses of destructive hunger!

Harry Keogh, Necroscope, thought that the war with the vampires had ended with the destruction of Boris Dragasani - and of Harry's body! But the man who talks to the dead lives on, more powerful than ever, able to transport himself instantly to any spot on the globe and to speak mind-to-mind with both the living and the dead.

Are Harry's new powers enough to defeat Yulian Bodescu and his legion of monsters - or will the vampire army overrun the living Earth?

Fantasy Horror at its finest.

It has taken Audible 3 years to make the second book in this series available and finally my frustration is sated (for now). I loved this series of books when they were first published in the 1980s and revisiting them in the audio format, has been like meeting an old friend after years apart. As with all Brian Lumley stories, this one is well structured and all the characters are well fleshed out. As a result, you never know which characters are going to make it to the end of the page, let alone the book. The narration is very smooth and easy on the ears, with a variety of accents being utilized during the story telling.

I cannot recommend this series of books highly enough.

Masterpiece

I have always love the Necroscope series and to hear it come to life is outstanding. I never even knew how to pronounce certain names until now. Can't wait until more books about the Wamphyri are on Audible!

Excellent part 2

I can't wait for part 3. Start this series at number 1. If you can suspend your disbelief and enter this world without hangups about supernatural creatures, especially vampires, then you will most likely enjoy this. I did.

5 out of 5 stars. for Necroscope II: Vamphyri!

Brian Lumley Sir I have two words for you in regards to your necroscope series " Absolutely Amazing "

Necroscope II Vamphyri is a definite 5 star

Loved it from start to finish, I read the entire Necroscope series in my 20’s glade to see the third book in the series is due out in September. Please bring the rest of the series to audiobook as quickly as possible I promise to buy them all. As far as I’m concerned, every book in this series disserves a five-star rating.
And the narrator James Langton is doing am amazing job

The characters and story are so well fleshed out and the narrator James Langton does such a great job building atmosphere you feel like your living the story

A long overdue classic, beautifully performed!

Since I found the first Necroscope Audiobook on A Well Known Online Video Platform a few years ago I've been wondering why nobody has done any more. The Titus Crow books are all available in audiobook form, as are the Psychomech series. But for the longest time it seemed as if Lumley's seminal vampire series was going to have a massive audiobook gap between episodes 1 and 17.

So when I saw Book II pop up and Book III become available as a pre-order I was apprehensive. James Lengton's interpretation of the characters had become inextricably woven into the story for me and without him it would be much like pressing a giant reset button.

But to my joy - The Man himself is back and is on the same superb form as before. Langton's character performances are varied and subtle. His vampires hiss and growl with fiendish delight. His accents (various regional English as well as Russian, Scottish and more) are immaculately delivered in a way that never once pulls you out of the story.

The story itself is a logical extension of Lumley's unique combination of parasitical lovecraftian vampires and psychic spies, but this time the plague spreads to the rural heartland of england and the crew must take swift action to prevent a new plague spreading through the country.

Essentially, if you liked the first book either as an audiobook or in written form - you will like this one too. I heartily recommend it.

If you enjoy these and want another series to get your teeth into (no pun intended) I also recommend Lumley's series of Titus Crow books which expand of HP Lovecraft's cosmic horror pantheon.

Delightfully Wholesome Lustful Horror!

As with all of Lumley's works I've had the pleasure of reading I was gripped from the first chapter. Necroscope: Vamphyri continues where book one left us in the wake of the aftermath where Harry Keogh and his deadly allies destroyed the Soviet E-branch and it's vampire master Dragostani.
We get the backstory of the old thing in the ground and his other prodigy whom has come of age back in England.
Great stuff but if considering make sure to pick up book one first.
Great narration from James Langton who does a fantastic job with his characters and their accents.
