Publisher's Summary

The brand-new novel from the Sunday Times best-selling author of The Magnificent Mrs Mayhew - a gorgeous listen full of warmth and heartfelt emotion.

Laurie and Pete should never have met. But fate has pushed them together for a reason.

Six months ago, on the same night, Laurie and Pete both lost their partners. Struggling to manage the grief, they join the same counselling group - and meet each other.

From their sadness, Pete and Laurie find happiness growing, and they sense a fresh new beginning.

Except, the more they talk, the more Laurie begins to spot the strange parallels in their stories. Then Pete discovers a truth that changes everything.

But, as surely as a compass points north, some people cannot be kept apart.

My One True North is a story of friendship and what love means, of secrets uncovered, tea-shops on corners and the northern lights.

Loved it!

I can’t wait for Milly Johnson’s next book, this was wonderful. Colleen Prendergast is my favourite narrator, great job!

Nice story to pass the time

Whilst I did have trouble getting into this book to begin with, once I was familiar with characters and back stories, I was able to really enjoy it. Likable characters with Interesting plots and sub-plots. I wasn't overly keen on Colleen Prendergast's style of narration - a bit too stilted and overly enunciated in some parts - but it wasn't the worst.

Romantic storytelling at its finest.

Story and Narration Perfect. Romantic, humorous and covered grief, sterility and magic. Isn't that just the definition of my life. Thank you Milly and Colleen.

soothing like hot chocolate

I'm not sure what it is with Milly Johnson... the story is rather predictable and very sweet, but it never becomes too sweet, and whatever she writes, it is always delectable and just that something you need after a stressful day.

Wonderful

I have enjoyed all of Milly’s books that I have so far read, but this one is particularly scrumptious.
I often use this type of book as rewards to myself after listening to other far more serious books. As here I always know what I ‘m getting and that I am going to be left with all sorts of wonderful feelings afterwards.
Brilliant narration as usual

Like a warm hug

Milly Johnson is on top of her game with her latest book. It has been so worth the wait. As well as her fabulous story she has reconnected us with past favourite characters , which if you haven’t read any of her previous books, stand alone in their characterisation.
I am just disappointed that I will have a long wait until her next book

Another hit

I love all Milly Johnson’s books. This one again didn’t disappoint. Very poignant and sensitive whilst talking about grief and loss yet as always many laughs still placed within the book.

Really enjoyable but something missing

I really enjoyed this book overall but there was something that just stopped me from really gelling with it. I'm not sure this is helpful as I can't put my finger on it. It was an enjoyable read but I just didn't love it.

Another great book from Milly

Great easy listen, kept me going whilst decorating, I really enjoyed it. I have had 4 books from Milly Johnson, only had to return 1 and that was not the story but the awful Cornish accents s will definitely be trying another but will make sure to listen to the sample first!

Great book

Excellent book read well by Colleen Prendergast. MJ’s books have an easy way, but hook you in so you can’t stop listening..have nearly read all books. Like the cameo ‘performances too! Recommended.

Brilliant

It is uncanny how in the mind of a recent widow Milly has got. Having lost my husband ten months ago I was nervous about this book, however it was warming, positive and so accurate on feelings. A breath of fresh air and a brilliant book. Thank you!
