Publisher's Summary

New York Times best-selling author of Wild at Heart John Eldredge offers readers a step-by-step guide to effective Christian prayer.

How would it feel to enter into prayer with confidence and assurance - certain that God heard you and that your prayers would make a difference?

It would likely feel amazing and unfamiliar. That's because often our prayers seem to be met with silence or don't appear to change anything. Either response can lead to disappointment or even despair in the face of our ongoing battles and unmet longings - especially when we don't know if we're doing something wrong or if some prayers just don't work.

New York Times best-selling author John Eldredge confronts these issues directly in Moving Mountains by offering a hopeful approach to prayer that is effective, relational, and rarely experienced by most Christians.

In a world filled with danger, adventure, and wonder, we have at our disposal prayers that can transform the events and issues that matter most to us and to God. Moving Mountains shows you how to experience the power of daily prayer, learn the major types of prayers - including those of intervention, consecration, warfare, and healing - and to discover the intimacy of the cry of the heart prayer, listening prayer, and praying Scripture.

Things can be different, and you personally have a role to play with God in bringing about that change through prayer. It may sound too good to be true, but this is your invitation to engage in the kind of prayers that can move God's heart as well as the mountains before you.

Moving Mountains is also available in Spanish, Mueve montañas. To dive deeper into the Moving Mountains message, the Moving Mountains study guide and video study are available now.

Complex message explained in a digestable manner

Eldridge is able to draw you in by using everyday experiences to get a point across, without being overly simplistic or talking at you or down to you! You come away with 'this is doable'! Not Churchy and boring - leaves you wanting more!

Wow!

By far his best book yet on the life of being a Christian and maturing in Christ. Looking for more and a better understanding in your walk with Jesus? Then this is a must read. As always John captures the readers heart and reveals the wonderfully good heart of God in a profound and beatiful way.

Highly recommended.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. After his first book on prayer, Walking with God, I was hooked with John's way of writing, his storytelling, and his passion for Christ. Moving Mountains picks up where the other book left off and takes you to a new place. Enjoy and get closer to God!

Like all of John's books, this one is deep, refreshing, challenging, & thought provoking. John's own reading is as inspiring as his conferences.

Changed forever the way I pray!

There is no denying, even though there are spectacular voice over narrators, hearing the author read it as the pages were revealed to them in all their emotional and intentional impact adds another layer of depth and authenticity. We found using the audible version of books works amazingly well for our men's group as we can now digest books on audio instead of having to "slug" through reading them ourselves. It has added something to our time together and has lightened the load of some of the experience so we can go spiritual deeper with the Truths being told. Thank you John, your life's work is blessing many, myself especially!

This book has changed my prayer life

I didn't understand the criticality of keeping heart in prayer; especially when things don't happen, even for a long time.

Bad theology

I felt as though the author was saying that our prayers don’t get answered because we don’t pray right. Like there is a magical formula for effective prayers. I believe in the sovereignty of God, and that He cannot be manipulated by the words of my prayer. God is not a magic genie god.
