Publisher's Summary

The best-selling Extinction Cycle series by Nicholas Sansbury Smith first introduced listeners to a world ravaged by an engineered virus that turned men into monsters. Billions died, civilization collapsed, and the human race teetered on the brink of extinction. Humanity's only hope was not a cure, but another bioweapon. When deployed it killed 90 percent of the infected, but the remaining 10 percent transformed into even more terrifying creatures called Variants.

Heroes have risen up to meet these abominations. Men like Master Sergeant Reed Beckham of Delta Force Team Ghost and Marine Corporal Joe Fitzpatrick. Women like Dr. Kate Lovato and firefighter Meg Pratt. Throughout the world, survivors band together to fight the evolving monsters in an effort to save humanity.

Here's a collection of Extinction Cycle short stories that explore the human spirit and the fight for survival in the face of overwhelming odds from some of the leading voices in the post-apocalyptic genre.

This collection includes:

"Outpost 46: Deadwood" by Rachel Aukes

"Extinction Bridge" by Amanda J. Spedding and Geoff Brown

"The White King" by Eloise J. Knapp

"Mother" by G. Michael Hopf

"From the Ashes" by Michael Patrick Hicks

heck yeah

i am loving these books. so far i have listened to the first 5, onto the 6th, both of the volumes of novellas and the Redemption Trilogy. I'm q bit bummed that i only have three and a half books left and i really hope people keep writing more. Heck, i've been writing a bit of fan fiction based in my hometown of Brisbane, AUS. The Variants offer such an interesting and challenging form of plague monster. So much more terrifying than TWD's weak walkers. Way more scary than WWZ film zombies (in the book they're just walkers too). Extinction makes you wonder how you wouldn't survive the ZA if they are just reg zombz. Walk fast and climb a tree, learn how to wield an axe or machete. Extinction shows how fucked you really are when Xenomorphs are cross-bred with Rage Virus infected (28 Days Later). Brutal. BTW, I reckob Alien was a massive influence for these books re Xenomorphs & monsters etc. A few hints even get dropped from time to time. Anyway, other than the action being a bit nonstop and repetitive at times, these books are all fucking great

The tree of many branches

I didn’t think the original series could go anywhere else without replaying the same story lines but I was certainly wrong! Thoroughly enjoyed this second ‘missions’ book. Can’t wait for the second ‘shadows ‘. Thanks from Australia
