This one felt a bit short, but that’s probably because I’m enjoying it so much!

Wonderful series

Finally a fantasy progression epic without the boring statistics, smut or relying on an RPG “system” which I always find jarring and unbelievable. Instead it’s approached in a very clever way which always keeps you guessing and satisfied. The occasional jab at myths, legends and pop culture peppered through the story add levity with a wry wink to the reader. The characters despite being well rounded still seem to come off as slightly 2 dimensional and occasionally somewhat stiff. The story overall is a gorgeous ride that has you bouncing between cheering on or biting your fingernails with the fantastical world keeping you in a perpetual sense of awe. I wonder though if the author missed his calling as a chef because their descriptions of cooking and meals are written with a clearly fathomless passion for food that had me stop listening to raid the fridge on more than one occasion! I adore this series and I’m sure you will too.

Loved every minute, can't wait for the next and Travis's narration elevates the whole thing. Probably going to give in and go read it on royal road instead of waiting for the 3rd installment on Audible.
