Interesting Approach

I learned of this book through Newsworthy by Norsworthy podcast and was intrigued by the application of this approach to Management. I am not disappointed and will be providing copies of the book to key members of my management team.

One of my top favorite leadership books!

This book was incredible in teaching me about anxiety, how to spot it, and how to manage it. The stories were great and the voice/accent and pace were perfect! I have added this to my top leadership books and will read over and over to continue the learning.

Bowen Theory Meets Christian Theology

As a devotee of Family and Systems therapy (Bowen Theory "BT" ) for almost 30 years, I stumbled onto this by way of my daughter and son in law attending church where the author is lead pastor. As an occasional visitor to their assemblies, I certainly connected with his preaching so I wasn't "shocked" when I discovered that he too, cut his professional teeth while training under a 1st generation Bowen protege. I have read all of Bowen's writings and Ed Friedman's books, participated in many therapy groups applying their principles and methods, and have been delivered from numerous fatal mistakes in decisions and relationships at home, professional life, and as a church leader through the years from that training. Over the past twenty years many BT disciples have written and published books reviewing and restating BT through their own language and experience. This book is better than most I have read (IMO). It is more systematic and uses good examples of the approach applied in real life situations. Plus the author is transparent with his own successes and mistakes and shares his own personal growth honestly and humbly. Anyone can pick up this book and benefit from it personally or as a leader (parent/executive/church leader) without having to learn the esoteric vocabulary of Bowen/Friedman which is not the case for many other BT books out there.

A Helpful Resource for Leaders & Teams

I have recommended this book to multiple leaders and will likely listen to or read it again in the near future. Steve Cuss has provided a helpful introduction to systems dynamics in one's personal life and in team culture.
