Publisher's Summary

Evie Black and her demon imp partner, Cass, are two of the most fearsome supernatural bounty hunters on the West Coast. But when Evie’s beloved grandmother dies, her world shatters. After finding the bottom of a bottle of tequila, Evie breaks the one rule she knows better than to ignore: Never hook up with a werewolf. Especially when he’s the local alpha who, oh by the way, happens to be her gran’s sworn enemy. Yeah, complicated doesn’t even begin to cover what happens next.

This is a full-length adult urban fantasy novel. Please be advised there is adult sexual content and language. You know how alpha werewolves get.

***Sassy kitsune***

I loved this series so much that I have already read it in ebook now I bought the audio format as well (obsessed much) lol seriously Evie is amazing, she is a pocket size spitfire with an attitude and a katana to boot oh yeah haha and Brock omg I can't tell anymore spoiler but gods forgive me but I feel so hot and bothered reading this two activities between the sheets *sighs* I have already read book 2 and can't wait to be able to read it. And The BFF Cass wow I loved the lil dude and Molly she is insane. My first Kate Marcin narrative and woah she is amazing she portrays Evie so well that I can imagine her like in my mind. So good

Fun to listen to, but easy to pause.

It was a fun story. Can't say I'd listen to the next installment. Just a bit too predictable.

Most Interesting World Concept C-

Most Interesting World Concept I read in a while. Brave and Loyal band of friends Evie and her imp partner gather around them. It could be me...but the sex and profanity seemed a little top heavy. it could have been done a more southern tipsy then stripper tawdry. That may of had me routing for the character sooner. #uniqueworldsetting #Shifters #UrbanFantasy

Ehh....don’t listen to this

So the idea was a decent one. The issue is the story. Half of the time she talks about the wolf she is in love with but denies, another good chunk is sex scenes, the little sliver left is the story. The author does t develop a plot not really write a story but more of a sex fantasy book. Sounds like a teenager who is sexually stimulated but unable to do anything about it wrote the book. If you don’t believe me give it a listen...

The reader did a good job though.

Boring and flat

Nothing special, a boring story without a spark. There is no heat, no drama, no significant character development, it’s all superficial and forgettable. As I read the reviews of other books written by Leia Stone, I find that they are all the same, and I will never read a book written by this author again.

Disappointing

Decent storyline and character development with that being said eve is the only one getting a climax out of this book. No climax no real conclusion, the book simply ended.

Terrible reader!

The story was entertaining and kept me wanting to find out what came next, but the reader almost caused me to trash this. There were no tonal inflexions had a period at the end of every breath. Just terrible!

mediocre

Story and writing aren't great but wasn't so bad I didn't finish the book. Phrases got very repetitive amd caused some sections to get kinda boring. The main character kept referring to her "baby daddy" and it got really annoying and cringey. Also felt the narrator was using weird stilted inflections that didn't always fit the scenes. Overall I wouldn't recommend. Oh yeah - it also ends on one of those abrupt cliffhangers that my favorite authors never, ever use. It's something I think is a hallmark of an author who doesn't have the confidence people will buy the next book based on the quality of the story writing alone...

Good series

This is more of a paranormal romance than an action-packed story. It is a fun, wild, and sexy story. The focus is the push and pull of the sexual tension between Evie and Brock. Evie the heroin, is a bounty hunter who is headstrong, independent, resourceful and intelligent. Brock is the werewolf alpha. So, she broke her rule and slept with a werewolf, yep the alpha. There is the back and forth intense aggravation and sexual attraction between the two. The basics for every romance book.

The conflict also includes their bonds and loyalty to their family/pack. Of course, they are on opposites sides. They cannot resolve the family/pack issue because of the unacknowledged romantic pull between them. There is no big grand fight, of good against evil. It is just two alphas (Evie and Brock) struggling for dominance. For Evie that means she is always saying, “you can’t tell me what to do.” For Brock that means grinding his molders and trying not to strangle her.

Don’t look for a great world building from the author, or a complex story line. Evie is liberal with saying fuck and Cass her side kick and bonded imp is a fae nymphmania. He drops double entendres.
Accept this as light fun reading with the adult romantic theme.

Brilliant Beginning of Series

I absolutely love this story and binge listened whenever I could. It has everything a supernatural fan could want- action, adventure, love, sex, suspense, friendship, magic & best of all mythical creatures. This story is like none that I have read. It is full of surprises. The narrator's perfect pacing and character voices really brought the story to life. I look forward to more in this series.

Great twist on a Paranormal Romance.

This book was a lot of fun. I was excited to see that the main character was part Asian like me. Cass is hilarious. The fact that he is a hot pink imp in booty shorts... loved it. Brock was a sexy, dominate, alpha male and genuinely seemed like a good guy. There were a few twists I did not see coming at all so I was happy that it caught me off gaurd. I am also curious to see how Brock and Evie handle this situation in the next book. Oh and that ending... cliffhanger. But a good one.

I actually had the pleasure of listening to the audiobook and loved it. The narrator had the perfect witty and sarcastic tone for Evie and I just laughed anytime she read Cass's lines. (Listened at my favoirte 1.25x speed)

Recommend to anyone who is a Paranormal Romance reader that loves wolves but looking for some fun and original twists!

Way too much swearing

I usually enjoy this type of story but I didn't really get past the first few chapters as for every other paragraph, there was some sort of swearing or bad language which made it really hard to enjoy.
