Publisher's Summary

Emma

When my best friend Aubrey asked me to tag along to an event with her, I never could have imagined that it would be the day that my life changed forever. He's arrogant and demanding and doesn't take a hint. Landon Barker, the quarterback for the Hermosa Beach Trojans, is a player on and off of the field. He's got his sights set on me as his next play, but I see right through him. Aubrey says I'm overreacting, that I should give him a chance. What she doesn't realize is men like Landon don't fall for the girl next door. That's not reality. She got her fairytale, although it was a long road. Not all of us are that lucky.

Landon

She's a friend of our new kicking coach's wife. When I ask Chance for her number, he tells me I have to find a way to get it myself.

Nothing when it comes to Emma has been easy. She's the first woman ever to turn me down, and that won't do. However, as time passes, it's about more than that. It's about her smile, her laugh, and just spending time with her. She thinks I'm a player, and she's right. What she doesn't know is that I play to win, and her heart is the ultimate trophy.

Lucky Bastard

This was another sweet romance in the Hero Club series. I’m enjoying them so much, all fun easy (low drama) reads. This is a spin-off of Cocky Bastard - Emma is Aubrey’s BFF and Landon is QB of the NFL team Chance just joined as the kicking coach. I really enjoyed it.

Fantastic story and performance!

I love a good chase! Add in a cocky hero and it's even better. Kaylee Ryan has done it again; another story that pulls you in from page 1 and keeps you reading right up to the last epilogue. The last several chapters were a surprise but I still got my HEA.

Loved Every Moment of this Romance!!!

Kaylee Ryan has done it again....She has created another swoon-worthy hero that is the absolute total package. Lucky Bastard is the story of Emma who works at an animal shelter and Landon AKA Lucky Bastard, who is the quarterback for the Hermosa Beach Trojans. Emma works with Aubrey who is Chance AKA Cocky Bastard's wife (both from Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland's book Cocky Bastard), and Chance is a coach for the Trojans as well.

Landon is a man who knows what he wants and goes after it, and he has his sights set on Emma. His determination to win her over was remarkable, and he was genuine about it also, which was nice. Emma was reluctant to give him a shot given the discrepancies in their life situations, but he eventually wore her down.

I enjoyed Landon's take charge attitude, his protectiveness of Emma and his overall commitment to the relationship. When he committed, he fully committed, no question about it and he doted on Emma. I love that Kaylee Ryan's books are generally low drama, high romance, all around feel good books, and Lucky Bastard was no exception.

Teddy Hamilton is among my very favorite of male narrators. He did a fantastic job as Landon. I also really enjoy listening to Savannah Peachwood. She does a great job with various emotions throughout the course of the story.

Good !

The first book that started the “Hero Club Series” Soraya and Graham’s story Is “Stuck-Up Suit” by ViKeeland and Penelope Ward it took me forever to figure it out.
You don’t need to read the first book but if you want to....

Good story with poor editing

I always enjoy revisiting with Aubrey and Chance. I liked Landon more than I did Emma, at the beginning of the story. I was surprised and disappointed that Teddy Hamilton failed to use an Aussie accent when speaking as Chance. There were a couple of discrepancies towards the end of the story, like Emma calling Landon #13 in the epilogue. The editors didn't catch but how about Savannah, she was using #18 throughout the entire story often enough, I mean a lot, as it was Emma's nickname for Landon, besides Lucky Bastard. The other mistake was when Landon mentioned having to list Emma's place with a realtor. In the earlier chapters Emma mentioned that she could not have pets because her landlord did not allow it. Not major but should have been caught. Overall still a good story.

IMO: TURRIBLE!

I need to start this off with 3 things: (1) I NEVER rate and review, this is actually my first one, (2) I NEVER put down a book or stop listening once I start, even if I hate it, drives me crazy, and (3) this is solely MY opinion so take it with a grain of salt!

I am not finishing this book. The lead female, Emma is a massive a-hole. I’m aware this is a fiction story and made up characters, however if I applied her actions in real life, as a fellow female I would have been quite compelled to scream at her. Often. And as a human, for as b*tchy as she was in the beginning, IRL I don’t know a single person that would have pursued her after the 2nd time they meet. She’s just a jerk. She’s obviously practicing self preservation, but damn man, she literally comes across as a self-important, judgy jerk.
So, maybe accolades to the authors writing, they definitely got an emotional response from me and that is reflective of her talent.

Emma and Landon

My kind of story with some drama and no melodrama. Beautifully written and if I could make one complaint is that I missed Chance’s accent. However loved every minute of it !

A sexy and adorable read

I enjoyed each and every sports romance in the Cocky Hero Club universe I’ve read or listened to so far, including this one. There wasn’t anything original or spectacular, but it was a nice read with compelling characters and a sweet storyline.

I loved reading about the lengths Landon is ready to go to to win Emma’s heart. The book is really about seduction. It makes it a sexy and adorable read, that will rot your teeth.

It had been some time since I last listened to Teddy Hamilton’s narration, and it was like coming home to a long time friend. He knows how to play the approachable alpha with a soft side. On the other side, Savannah Peachwood offers a gentle yet strong female character, just the right person to win the heart of the alpha male. The combination was perfect for this book.

Really enjoyed listening

As a new-to-me author but familiar with the ideology behind the Hero Club, I was going into the story only halfway blind. By the end of the first two chapters I knew I had picked a winner. The story was well written, had a good flow, and transitioned between chapters and POVs nicely. To top it off, I really enjoyed the story itself. I love getting glimpses of favorite characters in cameos of other books. Having that gave me an instant connection to Landon and Emma.
The narrators Savannah Peachwood and Teddy Hamilton are two of my favorites and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to their performance.
I'm looking forward to more stories in the Hero Club and will definitely check out more by this author.

Good Story and very engaging!

4.5 Stars for me!

I really enjoyed this story and found myself invested in the MCs and supporting characters. The twist was a bit different but I had a strong idea of what it was. It was handled well and the author did not drag out any of the conflicts which is very refreshing. There are explicit sexual scenes but they enhance the story and don't have the H breaking physiological boundaries! 😏

Definitely worth the listen!
