Publisher's Summary

Ex-fighter pilot Logan Reid is exactly the kind of man I despise. He’s a cocky jet jock, a former Navy Blue Angel, and full of all the arrogance that comes with being the best of the best.

I’m an ex-Zoomie, an Air Force tanker pilot. The rivalry between our sister services is nothing compared to that between fighter jocks and tanker pilots. We’re bitter rivals, and I’m low-man (woman) on the totem pole.

The last thing I need is to spend six hours at 35,000 feet locked in a cockpit with the cocky captain. But I have no choice. I’m his copilot, and we’re taking the CEO of Montague Enterprises and his family on a mini-vacation to the Grand Caymans.

We have three days on the ground before we fly back.
Three long days in paradise, and he wants to spend them all with me.

I have a thing for fighter pilots.
It isn’t animosity, exactly, but rather a deep-seated dislike. They get all the glory while the rest of us sit at the butt end of their jokes and wither beneath their ridicule.
I hate fighter pilots. There, I said it. I hate the arrogant pricks with a passion.

But after one look into those magnetic eyes, and the devastating wink that follows, I’m thinking of throwing caution to the wind. What harm can come from some innocent flirting? Besides, it’s not as if my job is at risk.

I’m not prepared for the air to sizzle when he’s close.
I’m not ready for our explosive chemistry when he touches my skin.
I’m not equipped for the fallout when our three days come to an end.
And I never expected to fall in love.

But all good things come to an end.
I wasn’t prepared when I walked away.
And I wasn’t ready for what came next.

He’s arrogant.
He’s cocky.
He’s determined to get what he wants.
And he’s refuses to let this end.
He’s fighting for a forever...with me.

But, I’m not ready for our beginning.
He’s arrogant enough to prove me wrong.

can you play sexual harassment?

I only got through the first four chapters. He was blatantly harassing her sexually and by no means am I a blatant famous feminist, but anyone in HR would know that this man would have been disciplined for his actions. it would have been different if this was the internal dialogue, to speak it to his female copilot. It was inappropriate

Great Story

Cocky Captain is part of The Cocky Hero Club inspired by Cocky Bastard from Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. Having loved that book, I was intrigued by the blurb and could not wait to read and review, particularly since Ellie Masters is a new author to me. I was hooked on the story that Ms.Masters wove from the first to the last chapter. I really loved the main characters of Logan Reid and Angel Mars. The attraction and chemistry sizzle between them even though neither can stand the other, or can they? We all know, there is a fine line between love and hate. The narrators Stephen Dexter and Summer Roberts did a great job bringing this story to life for me. This story had a little angst, but it was the banter and the humour that had me laughing so much. It was also a romantic and entertaining fun read that left me with a smile on my face. It was steamy and you cannot help but become invested in the story that Ms. Masters wove.

You're incorrigible!

I enjoyed the story and the narration a lot. My one criticism is that the author kept having Angel constantly calling Logan incorrigible, so much s ok it became annoying. In the meantime Logan had a variety of sexual puns, corny and funny. So the question was why the constant use of the one adjective?!

it had it moments

overall the story is good but a few things just didn't add up. everything with Clive, her reaction after and the process after was just unrealistic. it was like nothing happened. a little long but overall a good story

Good Story with a few caveats!

3.75 Stars This was an entertaining story with a lot of heat and good banter between the MCs. I took off a bit for the constant repetitive head banging and the fact that the H flipped his thoughts about relationships in seconds after spending most of the book saying NO to relationships. Note to female writers... Most guys over the age of 21 can control their erections and staying hard for 15 hours during a flight is essentially impossible without a slew of little blue pills. I also don't know many guys who tell women that they just want to f#@k them and move to the next one. Explicit Sex is a definite yes. Stephen Dexter is my favorite. He made this story better than it deserved. Love his sexy voice and how he can portray anyone

Keeland/Ward this author is Not

I've never read Ellie Masters before so I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt. Her interpretation of Keeland/Ward concept did not hit the mark. The pacing of this book was way off. It took way too long to show any redeemable qualities in H for the reader to give a damn. He wasn't just arrogant it was sexual harassment for the first look. A wink, cocky smile and sexual innuendo before he even said hello. This is not the 80's! That kind of thing was not ok then and its not ok now. Being nervous does not mean you harass someone and what women in her right mind would overlook that because he's hot. What kind of message is that? As long as the guy is hot he can sexual harass you because you'd be up for it. The book gets mushy and yes he saves her from a murderer/rapist not quite sure which Clive was and he might've been both but she was saved either way. I skipped most of it and just listened to the end that I have to say I wasn't particularly interested in. The h was just ridiculous. A supposedly smart and great pilot who couldn't keep her mind off of fucking the cocky captain to string together a coherent sentence. This story was just all kind of no's. I think I know what she was going for because any Keeland/Ward fan knows that their book titles belies a really heartfelt story that will make you swoon but IMHO this author doesn't have the same heartfelt touch as the author's who inspired her story. Stephen Dexter's female voice was less annoying than Summer Roberts. Go figure. When he spook as her it had more authority and less I can't believe this guy is so hot and I have to remind myself I'm not a pre-teen in heat.

Top Gun Type Fairy Tale

The story is a bit over the top. My biggest problem was the blatant sexual harassment made by the male pilot. This wouldn’t have been tolerated, especially for an aviator chosen to be a Blue Angel! This behavior stopped after the tail hook scandal in the mid 90s. I was in the Air Force during the late eighties/early nineties when the fighter jocks still behaved this way. This guy’s behavior would make him in his 50s or 60s. The female pilot needs to be a little more commanding, if she was the pilot of tankers. She would be used to being in charge of all kind of personalities/individuals. Once I took off my Air Force hat, I enjoyed the story as the fairy tale it was.

Fun!

These two characters were extremely fun to follow. The tit for tat was hilarious and his mom was the cherry on top. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend. Plus the performance was perfect.

Getting to know you at 35,000 feet

Logan and Angelica two beautiful, smart and talented pilots trying to hide their awe of each other. They had a great banter even though his was more sexual innuendos and hers was deflecting. I like how they began their relationship and began to work things out. I thought this was a fun, slightly angsty and steamy book. I liked it.
