Publisher's Summary
I didn't write this book because mothering little ones is easy for me. I wrote it because it isn't. I know that this is a hard job, because I am right here in the middle of it. I know you need encouragement because I do too.
This is not a tender reminiscence from someone who had children so long ago that she only remembers the sweet parts. At the time of writing this, I have three children in diapers, and I can recognize the sound of hundreds of toothpicks being dumped out in the hall.
This is a small collection of thoughts on mothering young children for when you are motivated, for when you are discouraged, for the times when discipline seems fruitless, and for when you are just plain tired.
The opportunities for growth abound here but you have to be willing. You have to open your heart to the tumble. As you deal with your children, deal with yourself always and first. This is what it looks like, and feels like, to walk as a mother with God.

Short , Practical and Wise
Easy listen. Finished in one sitting. Love the short books by Canon Press that are full of wisdom like this and Why Children Matter. Clear examples of how we practically apply what we believe from the Bible to parenting our children, while we ourselves walk in the truth. Doesn't waste time on laying theological foundation that you can find in so many other books. Assumes they are there and charges full speed ahead.

Inspirational guilt trip/pep talk
I liked everything about this book!!!! Its so accurate about motherhood. I appreciated the honesty and how she gives it to you straight. I feel inspired to be a better mom and to discipline my children differently but I also know now that I am not alone in how I feel and fail at parenting sometimes. Grace is my new motto - God gives me grace and I should do the same for my children.

Buyer be ware: this is a Christian book
I wish I had known before buying this book that it is completely geared towards those with strong Christian beliefs. Despite the fact that there is a lot of wisdom in the text I’d much prefer a secular account of motherhood challenges.

Great little book- with one caveat.
This is a really great book for moms of littles. Candid, up front and practical about the hard work in this season of life. Great if you need a shot in the arm about the reality of "life with littles" One word of caution is that the author can, at times, come across as a bit condemning - ie if you're a parent struggling with your child in a certain area that is "your fault" or "just get your act together" (this may be slightly exacerbated by the narrator having a tad harsher tone as well.) However, I personally found that to be rather refreshing in this day and age of "feel good parenting"! (But I would caution the mom who is considering this book while feeling insecure and discouraged to maybe find another read.) Overall though, a great little book filled with some very insightful illustrations for this particular season of life!

Just what I needed to hear
As I am a mom of littlest, this was just the book to help reorient my perspective and encourage me as well as provide helpful hints on how to direct your children toward godliness. I will be reading this book again and sharing with friends!!
