Story
This is your wake-up call to resist the Hustle culture and embrace the slowness of Jesus. Our culture makes constant demands of us: Do more. Accomplish more. Buy more. Post more. Be more. In following these demands, we have indeed become more: More anxious. More tired. More hurt. More depressed. More frantic. What we are doing isn't working! In a society where hustle is the expectation, busyness is the norm and information is king, we have forgotten the fundamentals that make us human, anchor our lives, and provide meaning.

Story
A fresh, challenging and compassionate response to busyness, based on the way of life Jesus offered his disciples. Who are you becoming? That was the question nagging pastor and author John Mark Comer. By outward metrics, everything appeared successful. But inwardly, things weren't pretty. So he turned to a trusted mentor for guidance and heard these words: 'Ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life. Hurry is the great enemy of the spiritual life.' It wasn't the response he expected, but it continues to be the answer he needs.

Story
Christians often focus so much on being loving and giving that they forget their own limits and limitations. Have you ever found yourself wondering: Can I set limits and still be a loving person? How do I answer someone who wants my time, love, energy, or money? Why do I feel guilty when I consider setting boundaries?

Publisher's Summary
In Love That Lasts, New York Times best-selling author Jefferson Bethke and his wife, Alyssa, expose the distorted views of love that permeate our culture and damage our hearts, minds, and souls.
Drawing from Jeff's "prodigal son" personal history and from Alyssa's "true love waits" experience, the Bethkes point to a third and better way. Blending personal storytelling with biblical teaching, they offer listeners an inspiring, realistic vision of love, dating, marriage, and sex.
Young people today enter adulthood with expectations of blissful dating followed by romantic, fulfilling marriages only to discover they've been duped. They learned about love and sexuality from social media, their friends, Disney fairy tales, pornography, or even their own rocky pasts, and they have no idea what healthy, lifelong love is supposed to be like. The results are often disastrous, with this generation becoming one of the most relationally sick, sexually addicted, and divorce-ridden in history.
Looking to God's design while drawing lessons from their own successes and failures, the Bethkes explode the fictions and falsehoods of our current moment. One by one they peel back the lies, such as the belief that every person has only one soul mate, that marriage will complete you, and that pornography and hookups are harmless.

Outstanding book! Really enjoyed listening to their stories and the advises they gave. It was even better when the authors were the one who actually reads it although Alyssa's voice is quite high pitched. A book well done it is.

Love this book!!
If you've read their previous books then you're going to come into this one knowing a little about their story, but don't let that stop you from opening up and digging into this book!!!! It is so good because it truly focuses on the biblical wisdom of relationships from both a man and woman perspective, not just the feel good stuff, but this is raw, honest, and open.
This book is for Jesus but not "preachy" it is infused with Gods love and makes it a turn on for everyone to read! {Would give this book to my non Christian friends in hopes they would see Christ love through a biblical minded relationship without "throwing the Bible" at them!}
Good read for everyone because it is complete opposite types of writing fused into one beautiful marriage of a story! Recommend if single, dating, engaged, & married! No matter what season of relationship you are in this is a great read!!!

Speechless!!
Almost done with first half of the book! All I can say is WOW! I work in an office that is silent most of the day unless the phone rings. I spend my time sending emails but I don't hear voices too much. This book is perfect for that time. It's like Jeff and Alyssa are sitting down with me teaching me about the Lord and how to love more without trying to be "perfect" like what society makes us want to be. I can't wait to finish this!

Decent material, too much Jesus & I love Jesus
They mention Jesus every other sentence... I love Jesus and am a believer and weekly worshiper but it's a little too much. And I know it's based with him but yeah... Kind of weird writing this but just honesty. I had to exchange it half way through

Impactful and insightful
This book is very honest and engaging. The notion and themes talked about in the book related to me in a lot of ways. I think it speaks to the reader no matter what stage of life they are in. This book is not just about relationships but it’s about daily living as well.

The True love You dreamed as a kid actually exists
Giving up on the wait after experiencing so many failures, perceived betrayals, and overall heartache? Or not interested in any pursuit of any sort? it’s weird how anyone of any age could relate and understand to some degree, but come to the same conclusion. This is hope rekindled and a fire of inspiration set alight in the heart. God sent Authors. This is one for the masses... not just the "chosen" people.
was just epic... something out of a fairy tale this book. But you really had to take it chapter by chapter to really appreciate the journey. Jeff and Alyssa don't describe their relationship as a dream, but as the reality of siblings (children of God) that just happen to be a lot more self aware of their duty and ability to give to each other.
Love doesn't give up, it isn't selfish... but in the same way unrequited love is a burden to the giver. Marriage is the covenant that destroys blurred lines, and gives life to a decision to become one in everything.

Loved it :)
Loved this book, not exactly what I was expecting, as I expected it to be focused around married couples more. However I found the wisdom and Christian philosophies around love here, can be applied to anybody, which ever stage of love you're in. Got through this (audio) in a couple of days and already about to give it another run through. Both Alyssa and Jeff have done an excellent job of being relatable, friendly but wise narrators in this book. A highly recommended read <3

Amazingly encouraging & wisdom giving stories
Honesty revelation of both of their lives.
Jeff & Alyssa generously, boldly share with extensive and lessons hey have learned from they were single, seeking, in a relationship, broken up and in marriage.
Many important topics were discussed and it's clear that he Bible is true, glorious, wisdom- and life-giving.
And for most, God is loving, He loves us and bless His children with many spiritual blessings.
